As far as im aware you still cant physically hand ya money over and ride one away, only the dealers demo bikes have been released :dunno

Pre ordered bike are now with the customers but there are none on general sale.

I was suprised to learn also that Aprilia have passworded the ecu and won't release the password for race maps unless you prove you put an official Aprilia race exhaust system on.

So you can't just buy from the net and get your dealer to change maps for you. Aprilia system is £1400

The one my father has a deposit on is nowhere to be seen with no delivery date expected soon, that was with a dealer tho so is that not classed as pre ordered ? :dunno

Maybe not all but some of the pre orders have been fulfuilled. SP in Devon have supplied their pre orders (4) but in the usual Aprilia we can't arrange a piss up in a ..... the order that they seem to be delivered in has nothing to do with date of the original order.
Some people who ordered fairly recently have bikes and some that ordered Nov last year and before have no bike. There have been a few cancelled orders i know of as a result for sure.

Still, wait till they need parts  Then it will get ugly.

Don't forget to get some photos of the new machine with owner with the big cheesy grin up on this page:thumbup

gotta say the rsv4 is a monster in every way according to all the write ups but in the looks department it doesnt look like anything special at all to me ,not for that money anyway .. if i where going to sell my beloved rsv i would defo go for the 848 duke now thats a nice lookin bit of kit.

Hi all, new here, never knew the forum existed! Found a link on apriliaforum.com where I normally reside.

I went to see one today, glad I did, much better than the pics seen anywhere, surprisingly taller than expected, and longer wheelbase. Yes it has small tank, but that i understand is partly due to the fuel being stored low.
Jury is out but in my opinion at least, and that is compared to the pig ugly r6 and rc8 it's nice, like well nice, and although the rc8 is apparently a good bike, i hardly think even a remote comparson is fair to an r6, the bmw looks like its been developed by triumph and yam badged as bm, the duke 848? again no comparison.

I sold a stunning 1098s which i already know is not a patch on the rsv4, and I won't be selling my factory to get one either, as it's about the best bike released for the road imo. The zx10 is proper ugly, and although cheaper than my repsol, i preferred the look of the rr7 over the latest effort, and bought the unreg one i found for 09 The r1 may sound trick, but the styling department paperwork must have got mixed up with the naked or streetfighter stuff as it is so wrong at the back.

This rsv4 is the top spec bike from Aprilia, the nearest to a desmo and a third of the price. the 1098 only has the illusion of being a better bike because the engine has 1100cc and the r has 1200, so has the newest 1198, and the 'r' may be worth having but not at 24k thanks, have you seen the residuals?

Aprilia have something here, yes, lacking a rear seat unit to speak of. but having seen it in the flesh, and heard it! at 999.6cc for the combined looks, spec! sound! reports, and thoroughbred, there is very little to compare it with, and with a race system, is cheaper than an 1198 which still isn't the top of the Ducati tree by far.

I have no idea if you've heard this thing, but if a dealer starts it for you, get them to stick it in first, and listen to it then.

This thing has clearly been designed and built as race pedigree exotica, so forgive me, but why compare it anything less?

I completely agree with someone who said Ape should never have deleted the Factory twin, but fortunately the 'r' can be upgraded with rims, rear shock, and damper, and carbon if required. I can see many sticking with this model as currently it's very good value!

Yep, agree re sound. The two in the pics when started up I thought they must have had aftermarket cans..How they got by the noise Natzis beyond me..Long live freedom.. copyright 'Wolfy.' Showing my age now.

Time will tell if the bike is a success.

They have only shifted 30 odd in the Uk excluding demo's last i heard and a few dealers are discounting them already. Some of that 30 went abroad due to favourable exchange rates. ( My dealer sold 5 but 4 were not for the uk). Also heard of 2 dealers offering their stock model for £13k so residules could be as bad as many others.
There are 2 on Ebay i noticed on Friday also.

Personally i think the buying process is 90% a looks preference as most of us have "a" speed on a superbike and no amount of extra power or bling makes you any faster. You go as fast as your skill enables you with the exception of a straight line.

It doesn't do anything for me i have to say and knowing Aprilia i would be wary of their backup or lack of it as the case often is if it develops issues.

You have to think if i buy a 10k bike and have £5k to spend on goodies etc to match the price of a v4 then how good will that bike then be. That's where the comparisons fall down. You can't compare an R1,R6,848,rc8 etc on a level playing field unless you spend equal beans on all of them. Stands to reason a designer with 5k more budget is gonna throw goodies at the more expensive bike that the cheaper one can't have for it's price.

If you don't then you have to take value for money into consideration as a bang for buck comparison and then maybe the V4 falls down for most people.

For me that's where Aprilia have missed the goal. Don't matter how good your product is if you price it out of reach of 75% of your target market and £15k is a lot of anyones money. Especially when your asking an Rsv Factory owner for example to switch from a top of the range rsv to an Rsv4 for 50% more than he paid for the model he has.

By the way the can has a flapper in it to cut noise at lower revs. That's how it got through the noise regs.
Ducati's have the same system.

Has anyone seen the mental rear seat? It sits on the top of the fins at the back apparently !

no clips or any thing! is this true?

These two turned up together..Riders with brand new bikes, leather, private plates..Not jealous, not no, not in the slightest..Besides they're too small..:devious

Fab photos again Mark, thanks. You've almost got this photography thing cracked. Problem is theres a funny red and black thing in the way and I cant get a great view of the silver beauty :thumbup:thumbup. Spend a bit more time on frame composition and I think we're there:devious:devious
