speed detector

Cheers Pointer mate,

So no chance it'll fit up front then.

Suppose it's best to fit at the rear then, I'd probably take the feed and earth directly from the battery, making sure an in line fuse is used.

Box of cooks matches! Christ that's quite large for just a simple GPS unit.

it comes with a fuse already in line on the live wire didn't want to go straight to battery as you say it will flatten it unless you keep removeing part of it which i don't want to do until it needs up dateing

in a word NO, I will take a pic of mine fitted......Pointer, I also took the antena right up the fron and stuck it on top of the clock dash along with the LED, pic to follow.

Pointer mate, I don't mean straight off the battery terminals by that, I mean straight of an ignition controlled battery feed.

Poorly worded by me, sorry.

You have a full set of ignition fuses just at the rear of the battery, you could take it off them if it meets the criteria from my previous post.

here is where mine are mounted

The Inforad is near the tool kit with 2 cable ties holding it

The little square to the right of the LED arm is the antena

Did you wire yours in Smiffy?

If yes can you let Pointer know where you picked up the ignition controlled feed from?

I just took the live from the rear light, that way when I switch my lights on the unit powers up

I just ordered 2 - one for the zxr and one for the rsv, might get another couple yet for my car and truck as well.

Just aquick sideliner though, in smithy's first pic, what is the little bar that runs down the left hand side of the sub frame for, i found it on mine today whilst fitting an immobiliser, it came off its lilttle clips easily enough, thought about it for a couple of mins, then put it back and thought i would ask you guys.

Happy New Year To You All, heres to a great 2009..........

That's a prop for supporting your fuel tank when you need access to the upper part of the engine.

It is a stand for the tank, it allows you to prop the tank up whilst working on top of the engine, one end goes into the headstock/top yoke, and the other end fits into the bolt hole on the front of the petrol tank.

same as smiffy's apart from soldered mine into the fuel pump relay (positive that is) (cause i'm good:lol)

Now i thought you wired it up to the fuel pump and then asked an expert where he had wired his :jack

yeah i did but it was to your fuel pump but found it difficult to ride round together
no no what happened was i found a perfect 12v connection on the fuel pump side under the right hand vent but for some reason the resistance made the fuel light stay on which was fooking bizaar:dunno that shouldn't happen so i rang hooked up and asked where he put his and though to save the hassle i'll hard wire it in the same and put this thread on knowing he would reply :lol
just as i thought he would:devious

My Inforad arrived this morning and I fitted it this afternoon.

Piece of cake to fit and update thanks to all for your assistance.

Reckon it took me all of 30 minutes to fit, including dismantling the fairings etc....

I ended up not wiring mine in to a 12v ignition feed and followed Smiffy in adding it to my rear lighting circuit. Picked up the rear light 12v feed underneath the ECU along with an earth.

You never know when you might want to switch it off. Aren't these things illegal in France?

I know radar detectors are illegal in france, but my phone has built in gps sat nav for europe and it has a speed, sorry, safety camera database installed on it, would that be illegal in france as well?

fitted mine today took it about ten minutes to first locate its self though.as to the french thing who cares:biggrin because am sure they wouldn't the other way round.

Mine arrived yesterday when the wife opened the bedroom door and threw it at me :laugh ( why do women get so pissed off when you don't tell them you've bought something else for your bike :biggrin )

Anyway it's top quality gear and for £24 it's unbelievable value for money..... going to fit it today on mine ...:thumbup

Yeh, and if she's anything like my missus there is **** turning up from "Next" every other day on our doorstep.:confused Do I ever ask her what **** is in those parcels I sign for? NO. But then I feel guilty about ordering a ****** wooly neck tube thing to stop her poor husband (me) from freezing on his way to work coz apparently I have to justify taxing the bike in the winter by riding it in arctic conditions (ok just below freezing):dowhat

Rant over for now:roll

I am gonna buy an Inforad tho, they seem to be what we need and I can ditch my road angel that doesn't work.

I even get more expensive things delivered to work to avoid the questions from the old ball and chain :devious
