Northern Exposure - Fudfest III

Rmin, that sounds fine wae me. I've din Peternapper to Wick an back in a day on the X7 back in the day so I can't see this being a problem. I jist hope the rain cascanny oer the weekend. Bring it on.

The rest o you muckers. Looking forward to meeting up and having a yap, scoop, and maybe a wee ***. Nmin, are we ok for Asda on the morning o the 24th?

Slomo,

Aye Asda be fine wi me........do we keep petrol receipts to gie to Rico ????

Noo I think at micht be hard like, cos he's been makin a soon aboot nae gan fast noo. So he micht jist be toddling aboot at 56mph.

In fact there micht be word o him changing fae 15/42 ti 18/38 jist ti get few mpg mair.

Awe right awright Wide-Os...kin wi git this plan pulled thegither....

SloMo, u scoped oot any beds in Thurso yet......its lookin busy likes wi awe the hotels frae what ah kin see.

An are we awe agreed an decided on the route as weel?

Rightio!!

Route:
An idea has been passed on ti dae this.
Day 1: Peternapper, Huntly, Aviemore (pick up Aldo) Inverness, Ullapool, Durness, Thurso.
Day 2 Thurso John o Groats, Wick , Alness(dinner), Inverness, Drummimdrochit, Spean Bridge, Loch Laggen, etc etc etc.

I've checked oot twa places in Thurso
The Weigh Inn @ 45 quid a night B&B
Or
Pentland @ 50-57 bangers a nicht.

Royal Hotel Thurso, £40 squid a night B&B, single room. think it was 66 for a twin, I'm a single room due to alleged snoring. still got rooms left at moment. I am going there tomorrow so will see fit like. Booked through booking.com get free cancelllation up till 2 days before. Route seems fine to me.

I'm jist going to throw this in in the hope that the weather is wae us on the saturday.

Yer Aviemore (pick up Aldo) Inverness, Ullapool, Durness, Thurso route ain't exactly eye poppin.

Whit aboot this, Yer get yer fat arse doon tae Spean and a'll meet yer, fae there we do Kyles but turn onto the wester coastal wae a run up the applecross road. We jist follow the route tae durness or tounge and die fir the night.

Sunday wae limp home and get whomever to lick the wounds.

It's only a suggestion mucker and we all know that the weather will dictate whit we do, a bore yer again by reminding ye's a've done all this and more in a day last year. First time a went up the east and doon tae ullapool then inver and hame. two weeks latter the going wis brill and a went aw the way up the west tae the top and along tae thurso then hame on the a9 tae inver and doon the side of nessie, spean, fort bill, connell lochgilpheid, Inverary and hame.

A didnae need to go oot fir a long run fir a wee while after that one.

Aye Amin, I'm open ti suggestions. So it looks like yi want ti dae the big run on the first day, and then the "easy" route on the y hame. As long as we decide on far ti speed the nicht I'm nae bothered. The Royal could be an option richt enuf.

Rico min, fit time wid we need ti be meeting up wae you then? Also, as yer the gadgie for maps and timings an'stuff, fit time wid we meet Aldo?

nae idea SloMo...ahm jist a humble punter oan this yin!

...but if yer asking... ah reckon it wid be an early yin tae meet Aldo as the next legs nae exactly short o miles, assumin wir still beddin n beerin at Thurso oan Sat. It wid tak us aboot 2 an a bit hrs frae mah bit tae Spean Brig.

Aldo...whit dae ye think timewise tae get up roond the West side and roond North tae Thurso? How lang did it tak ye last time?

r, ma napper's scrambled wae miles, fuel, times etc + yer know how a like a *** break noo and then. It's a fair jaunt but it all depends on the weather and if yer wantin tae ride or hae a look at whitever. The trick tae coverin loads of miles isnae the speed it's the lack of stops. Fir me if a target time is set a can usually hit it. A'll hae another think aboot it and report back.

Just back from weekend trip up round the top o jockland, doon to Altbea, across to Fort William and then home today.
The weather was crap.
Lots o the roads would be good in the dry and progress could be made , but if like this weekend if a bit slimey and slippery the average speed tumbles doon.
Royal Hotel at Thurso is a tourist bus sort o place, but its cheap and has parking round the back oot the way.
Quite a lot o single track road round the top, couple o tight squeezes when me and 4x4's decided to play chicken and both not stop at the passing places !!

Any o the routes mentioned so far will be quite a slog, but in decent weather most are do able. As said earlier some have short cuts if weather bad.

Had a wee think aboot Aldo's suggestion o the Applecross road then up north. Me thinks for me , from here, that will be a bit too much. Aye and ur richt Aldo I do have a fat arse lol

Lets jist git the beds booked an the route will tak care o itsel...

SloMo....as yer doon in the Jungle the noo dae u want me tae call the Royal hotel an book ? ....ahv stayed there as weel in the past, wi the rugby, and NPB is right, its a bit blue rinse brigade but richt in centre o toon an the price is right!

FudFest III tourists......heads up!

Assumin at the moment is 4 o us ( me SloMo, Aldo and Npb) Ahv booked a twin ( so me an SloMo can cuddle up an talk awe night aboot shoes) and 2 singles (fur the snorers o the group) in the Royal Thurso for Sat 24th Sept

Got the very nice wifie tae set the tab at £30 squids a skull fur B&B .....which ah didnae think wiz bad at all.

If theres anybody else comin noos the time tae say.....

Game on loons
