Northern Exposure - Fudfest III

Hope the weathers feck all like the days! r that seems like a good deal yer got there, well done mucker.

Gonna put me thinkin oot for thochts ( does that make sence am having a wee warm up scoop after a whole weekend o pissin rain, me waterproof trousers gave up after 5 years o not lettin a drop through, it was really wet though)
Think this route has been said before.

Saturday

Peterhead
Huntly
Aviemorish , meet Aldo.
Up to Inverness(Boring I know)
Now depending on weather, if crap, just scoot up to Thurso.(If it improves go to Lairg up to Tongue and then Thurso)
If it good, head to Ullapoool, then right over the top to Thurso.
So that makes 3 choices depending on weather.

Sunday
Thurso straight doon to spean bridge
If weather crap the faint hearted east coasters can turn left at Inverness and head for hame.
If weather ok spean bridge to hame, or even Tyndrum to hame.

The longest for us far east coasters is aboot 316 miles one day and 320 the next, less if its crap weather.

No sure what this means for u Aldo but judgin by what u have done in the past its probably no too bad.

If its the push onto Applecross and i dont feel keen I can cut off and make me own way to Thurso on the girlie route. Will have the booze lined up for the hardy folk when they arrive

nob am no bothered aboot whit route we take, a wis jist suggestin somethin different if the weather permitted. If yer no up fir a long run then that's fine wae me. We could also do Lairg, Laxford Bridge then up tae Durness and along tae Thurso.

As yer said there are a few options open to us and the final route would be best left to the last minute, a hope tae feck this weather improves.

I,ve not done either o the routes fae lairg north so any o that sort o thing would suit me.
Aye when the weather is real bad it can be a bit o a dampner. Had the big touring screen on the Kwacker to hide behind for the weekends trip and was still soaked, me tackle was all sookit wrinkles, or is that just normal for me ????

me tackle was all sookit wrinkles, or is that just normal for me ?

As long as yer no lookin fir a second opinion.:no

hahahhah, na yer safe enough aldo, there will be no second opinions required, well unless its from a tidy lassie. Or even if enough booze in ,one o the blu rinse brigade up at Thurso...........on second thochts maybe not then either, spotted a few o them this last weekend and err naw........just naw.

I'm still hoping to manage on the 24th for part of the run, but if your just heading from Aviemore up the A9 I might give it a miss.
Don't know if any of you know but there is a MAG protest/demo run on Sunday the 25th leaving Tore services at 1 and heading down the A9 towards Aviemore. Maybe not your thing but thought it was worth a mention. I hope to make the demo run too but still unsure at the moment

Awrite fellow fuds. Ah'm sorry tae report ah'm gonnae hae tae miss this meetin o minds,aw ma decoratin an work in the hoose has left me withoot a pot tae piss in or a windae to thraw it oot ay! Had tae get it done cos it wis pissin ais aff comin in fae work an gettin back tae work oan ma less than straight walls but it has left ais skint.Ah wis lookin forward tae meetin Aldo an slaverin pish wi yez a. Hope it stays dry fur ye a weekend tae lads.

Tobs min... tyin in wi the MAG run frae the North might fit in.......depends on whit the other FudFesters are wantin tae dae....we can tak a vote on the Sunday morn at brekkie!

Efter last weekend away and the pishin doon rain, am thinkin o taking waterproofs fir me waterproofs

After the recent incident with this site had started talking aboot the trip elsewhere, should maybe just keep it alive here again.

Slomo ,as ur expedition team leader, fit time do ah need to get oot me pit on Saturday to fill up at Asda at what time ?

Right ya fudwhits whit's ra cry.

Indulge dis fud wae yer thoughts fir next weekend ???

nob, ffs tell him whitever.

Slomos been in transit back frae the Jungle loons but is noo hame tae his Northern nest so we should get this pulled thigither shortly.

The SloWormGadgie has been in touch an promises tae get his act thegither soon an let awe us FudTourists ken the crack

Hi gadgies. Richt, sorry fir the lack o forum activities. I'm firm up some times this week and get em posted up on here. I get the feeling it's weather dependent though as ti fit route wi will be takin

Right, I'm looking for some times here. Rmin, you are the most likey to be able to come up with timings. what time would we need to leave Huntly to get the Newtonmore?

Aldo min, what are your thoughts on the weather? Are you still going to be up for it if the weather is dodgy?

gadgie, it looks showery fir sat and a drier sunday. As long as it's not going to pish down fir both days am in.

A spoke to rico today and we sort of said that if we left the route until tomorrow night it would give us a better look at the forecast.

Are yer still lookin to do laggan to spean bridge on saturday? if yer are a wid rather meet yer in spean than newtonmore, am no keen on the a9 mucker but if needs must then a'll be there.

If we decide to stay to the east rather than the west so be it, am oot fir a gab and a bevy.:thumbup

Am on nightshift the noo so wont be aboot for any evening discussion on here.
Forecasts I have seen have the weather as Aldo has said , showery but not drastic lookin.
Slomo I use Google maps as an aid to plannin times, just knock 10 mins per hour off the times google chuck oot, coz bikes can make "better progress". Thats withoot goin balls oot too. Dunno if that counts if there are a couple o extra *** breaks, I dinna smoke, unless somebody sets fire to me.
Only up at this time o day cos the cooncil grass cuttin mannie decided to attack the grass beside me with the worls noisiest machine then the postie was so desperate to deliver a parcel he stood ringing bell and knocking door for ages, he may not be so keen to do that again
