My first Twin!

The Aprilia bearings do not have any cages. They consist of needle bearings only to provide a greater bearing surface.

Been busy getting greasy tonight.. dogbone rollers and bearings cleaned, De-greased and re-greased.

Ordered 2 new bearings, 2 seals and a pin for the swing arm connection to the linkage from AP performance.. Bit pricey at just over £40 delivered (saturday) but original..

Managed to break my g clamp trying to get the bearing casings out! Doh..

Got them out in the end using a threaded rod with a few sockets, washers and nuts. Worked a treat.

Going to be looking into stronger plates in the future or maybe doubling up on them with longer bolts..

Today I fitted the new bearings and put the sjorck linkage back together..

Thinking I may spray it black up to the link pipe.

In stead of the complexity of paint spraying your hearders I simply use 'grate polish'. This is basically high temp show polish. A small tin lasts a lifetime and costs a few quid on ebay. My headers were pretty rusty before. Took rust off with a wire brush, then applied grate polish with a rag and a toothbrush for hard to reach places. Warning: do not use yor own toothbrush. Use your wife's instead. Below the results (of the headers, not the wife :biggrin):

Haha looks good. I spoke to a mate who is very good at polishing so going to get it polished up next time its off.

Lifted up my front wheel earlier to do a bit of cleaning and found my pads are stocking a bit..

I have tried my standard lever which makes no difference..

Above is a video of how bad they are rubbing.. I have only recently refurbed them. In comparison to the rear which is free they are bad.

Bled the brakes again, reset pistons, cleaned disc bobins and span them round then re seated pistons by undoing the calliper bolts holding the brake then doing them back up.

Seems to move much more freely. Will review this after my next ride

I did manage to snap off the master cylinder bleed nipple though! Doh! :banghead:

At least its done up!

It sure does. Have a good blast! Hopefull ill be out riding on friday. If not I will be taking a dremel to an airbox!

Double checked my suspension sag yesterday as the bike wasn't feeling quite right handling wise and my mate had come over to do his k1 gsxr anyway..

My rear was 2mm out and is now set to 30mm.

The front however has a slight issue. I currently have it set to 35mm but to get this result we had to wind the preload all the way in! I guess this means I need new springs in my ohlins forks?

If so where is the best place to get them from, how easy are they to rebuild? I have done CBR 400 forks before myself..

They are ok for now, but will need to look into doing this along with the rear shock service next winter..

Will be giving them a holler at some point, cheers..

So I now have an air box lid.. Evo kit has been removed and masking tape setup on the new lid, as the saying goes measure twice cut once so thought I would post up a pic before I take the dremel to it, what do you think?

The air filter I have is tall and it does touch the underside of the tank, I will be getting a foam cut out for it to be 100% sure..

You can see here where the evo kit hasn't sealed correctly against the tank

Is this the clutch slipper valve (white)?

The white bit is a check valve for the clutch yes.
Take it off and check it only lets you blow one way through it.
