right then lads i found a red chunky wire removed the boot and the o ring type connecter is on good and proper this was located just behind the rad
 
Ok, so if it is all connected good and proper squire, pop your hand on the metal casing (not the wire) of the starter motor and thumb the starter button and see if you can feel as well as hear the starter turning or not as the case maybe. Put your pants back under your tights whilst you are at it :laugh
 
It doesn't sound electrical to me, still reckon it's your sprag clutch.

Will chat to my mate tomorrow at work, he's had RSV's for 10 years and has certainly done a sprag clutch in his time.

Yes, that your battery is on charge overnight! :D And your cape is safely away from all moving parts incase of potential entanglement issues.
 
If it is the sprag clutch you can do it yourself, trust me my mates no mechanic and he managed it.

I have the full workshop manuals if you need them. Can burn to DVD and post if you like!!!
 
i havent got a battery charger buddy but i got jump leads,

ermm right im on way back down to the garage to check its spinning 2 secs
