Bikesafe - police etc

Must admit, I`d LOVE to be able to control my T like that at low speed........I`ll go as quick as I can (safely) anywhere, but slow-speed U turns and I`m ***** ! :blush

Same here. I swapped my XT660 for the t. U wouldn't believe diff in lock!!

Try chalking a circle 23' diameter ... and riding round the inside of it ... ****** if I can do it!

How wide is a normal 30mph road on average. To pass the bike test 3 yrs ago i had to turn a bike around in the road without losing control. Keeping foot on back brake is the way i was shown an just keep revs up

There`s a bit of stuff on the net about it, Bay, here and there, and what you`ve said about using the back brake and the revs up is exactly right according to what they say....

It`s all about clutch and throttle balancing, to keep the bike constantly moving, with use of the back brake to temper the speed of the bike. Another must is to really turn the head and eyes in the direction you are going, rather than looking right in front of you.....

Unfortunately, as with most things, the theory is always the easy thing; it`s putting it into practice that`s the hard bit.......

try it!

Doing a U is a hell of a lot easier than say 6 x 360's ... its all

Where you look

Back brake (lol!)

I had one minor on my bike test in 2001.

Tester stopped in a lane linking two side streets. Oh **** I think surely not u turning here. Oh yes. Pushed it round just. Went to do powered turn & stopped (1 minor). Started again as bay says loads of revs and back brake (cb500 has an ace back brake!) and just just got round. ****** he couldn't have picked a harder spot.

I'm glad I took my bike test in 1978, near as dammit just had to ride round a block and do an emergency stop to pass !

Same here Tubby AND I nearly run a woman down on a zebra crossing.

Lucky for me the examiner was running up the hill to get ahead of me for the emergency stop so didn`t see.

Mind you it was all hand signals and NO mirrors
