Hi everyone
Just wondering if someone can help me. Not long passed my CBT and got my first bike it's a 2011 rsv 125. Not had any problems with it except I recently filled up (3 days ago) and since then bike starts fine but once I'm on the road for 5-10 minutes I seem to be idling at 3000rpm if I turn of the bike and start it up again it idles around 1500 until I start moving again then back to 3000. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for me. I'm new to bikes but trying to learn everything I can as I want to be able to take proper care of it. Thanks in advance.

As the problem only started after filling up. This will be the best way to start.
Maybe, drain fuel from tank completely.
Check if you can the quality of the fuel.

Refill with a couple of litres new fresh fuel, then test.
Be good to let us know how you get on.

Thank you for your reply,
I gave this a go this morning and it seems to be slightly better, instead of sitting at high revs until I turn the bike off and on again it sits there for maybe 10-15 seconds then drops back down and only does this once I've been riding at high speeds for a prolonged amount of time, when stationary for any amount of time it's not an issue however I do now have the issue of revs dropping too low and the bike cutting off completely, not every time I'm stationary but quite often.

Hi Kai90,

I'm not sure what an RSV125 is (2 stroke or 4 stroke, single or twin cyl?), but this is likely a servicing and tuning issue that won't go away without a mechanic checking and cleaning something under t he tank.

Often the idle adjuster is set to high, hence it revs at 3k rpm when hot, but why was it set higher? Covering a problem?

Given you are new to bikes, best to find a good mechanic to sort it out as bikes are way more highly strung compared to cars.

Good luck, maybe you could try a fuel injector cleaning treatment and see if it freshens up the engine after a full tank of riding, then try lowering the idle rpm adjuster, but I still think the problem might be vacuum related and needs a knowledgeable mechanic....

👍
