Cheers guys, In with the crates of original bits and various spares that came with the bike was all the paperwork which detailed it being picked up by ANC in Maidstones and recommissioned with new fluids all round, battery and service. No details of suspension greasing but will do that myself for peace of mind once I get it home.
I have ordered a footrest kit for me ABBA stand that allows the swinging arm t obe removed so no problem there, my days of hanging bikes from the garage roof are now over :T
The bike is currently in my friends (big) shed, he picked it up for me as I couldn't get a day off this side of Xmas and Mark couldn't get a weekend off this side of Christmas so my good mate drove 4 hours to pick it up. Guessing I'll be owing him several beers on the next Ring trip.

Under the sheets is his appliance, sorry Fireblade along with racing quads and various other bits and pieces.

As soon as I have finished re-building the Ducati and have some space in my garage then I will arrange to go and get it and bring it home for some pampering before Spring arrives.

Hi and welcome to the forum.Great intro.:thumbup
Sounds like you have done your homework on the T.Interested in what you are going to do with the alternator,...are you replacing it with the later version or having the rotor skimmed?Enjoy the T
Cheers,:cheers
KB.

Hi Keith,
With regard to the alternator I am thinking of just swapping out the stator as a precautionary piece of maintenance rather than risking being stranded. I am sure mine is from before the swap to the lower output stator and cannot find anything in the paperwork to suggest it has been changed. Therefore is there any way of identifying a 500W stator compared to the 380W item?
Or do I just buy one and know the correct one is in there?
Cheers

Let us know how you get on with those...... i emailed abba asking when they will be back in stock & to confirm they fit the T... havnt received a reply yet!....
Think you need a "special socket" to remove the nut on the swingarm:

Tho i think olaf said its easy to make one......... clever bugga !

Its a piece of preverbial.

Just a piece of pipe the right diameter (stunt peg of a BMX), then a few cuts with a hacksaw & a bit of filing.

The main reason why the stators burn out on early Gen 2's is the super strong magnets on the rotor generating way too much current.Later bikes have a different rotor,...or you can skim a couple of mill off the original to reduce the magnetic effect. Some folks have replaced the stator,...only to find its burnt out again after a few thousand miles.
AFAIK,the new rotor was fitted 2008,...engine number 8176929 onwards.

Ich lebte in Charlottenberg, Berlin für zwei Jahre dann ein Jahr in Joachimsthal in der alten Ost-Deutschland

Hi Keith,
So if I am understanding you correctly changing the stator may still result in a fried stator, therefore I need to change the rotor and leave the stator?
Does anyone know the actual amount to machine off the rotor and presumably this is machined off the outer diameter?
May look for a post 2008 rotor off e-bay as I may well eff it up

Yes,that is correct. You could get the stator rewound with thicker wire to cope with the high current.

Yes,there is a thread on the AF1 site somewhere.Bit of a specialist job,iirc.

Personally,I would not worry too much about the stator. Some bikes go for thousands of miles without problems.A lot of it is overblown by the internet,.....ya can read too much of it,ya know.
For peace of mind, you could always buy one,...keep it in stock,...just in case.
