What did yer do with yer machine today.........Part 2

Was thinking DRZ for the reasons OT mentioned above , parts, servicing , reliability etc.

Don't dwell on the past mate , we all have " previous " in some way shape or form, and if I get sorted and tag along I think the laughs will be on me somehow. :yes

Sense of humour is the first thing on the list when you ride off road..... we always have a laugh & take the piss out of each other.... normally the first one to fall off has to buy a round at a pub at the end of the day... dont worry.... that will be......

:lol

:whoop

Don't count on that pc, I've a knack of flying through the air waeoot the bike. :yes

Aldo, has orange been out much lately ?
I had a test ride on a newish wr450 recenly.
It was really nice, rode really well, but certainly not a massive load better than my old DRZ
I bought a scruffy but sound DRZ because I new it would end up scratched to bits.
That's what makes each ride so good, because I know a few more scratches wont show and I just have a right laff.
Just jet wash it off and keep a close eye on the regular maintenance items.
In a few years it will be worth the same as what I paid for it, can't say that about most bikes.

The more I look into it the more I like the thought of it. I don't wanna run the T in salt, but I don't want to be bike less all winter this year. I think the DRZ option ticks the boxes of a short commuter, but off road fun too. Then you lads can show me how to go on.:yes

OT, I ain't had much biking at all this year, definitely the lowest mileage on my T since I got it.

I'm going to kick the golf lark back into touch, it's been the main reason for the lack of biking.

All that said it's just coming into Orange season, so boots have been pressure washed and the machine is ready to rock.

I'll need to change the tyres soon, have yer any suggestions and I'm not bothered about them being road legal, I'll just grind the Not for Highway off them.

Aye, golf is for old men who have nothing better to do - much too exciting for me.

Tyres ?, been looking myself.
It appears that they cost approx. half the cost of Tuono tyres.
There is a massive range of road legal tyres that range between £45 to £65.
Mine has Maxxis front & rear at the moment, the front is great, still looks new after a year.
The back is half worn (still probably 8mm of good tread), great on the road, but not so good on deep mud / wet grass.

As with Tuono`s, people are advising that a wide tyre may look good but is actually worse for grip / handling.
I will keep you posted.

Looks like Mr Cat is about to join in the fun - don't forget to factor in some body armour / decent boots etc. Road gear is not really suitable.

I have ac 10's on at the mo (£110 fitted for the pair 2 yrs ago).... road legal but probably a bit ott for my use. excellent in deep mud but lively on the road as its more like a motocross tyre.
Noticed on a few bike adds that some use trials tyres ? would think they would be good on rocky stuff but what about the mud ?

Mr A, re tyres, I have Michelin Enduro competitions on my WR, brill tyres and have got me out of many sticky situations.. I did ride up and down our street once and was like riding on marbles, which is pretty typical of knobblies i reckon. Dont think they're road legal either..

f, there are a few boys up here that use trial bikes for H&H events, complete with trial tyres. They seem to cope well enough with the muddy conditions but then they're capable riders.
