Motorcycle sat nav recommendations?

I mostly use the nav on getting back ;) You pick good direction on winding roads after some good riding it will tell you the road back home.

So much easier than a map. I have to admit that route planning is easier with a old fashioned map.

I use it also in car to avoid the "safety cameras" 400m befor it gives an audible alarm which is brilliant.

Coolio :thumbup

I was going to use the car cigarette charger supplied and then buy the fused socket adaptor that wires to the battery.

USB might be the way to go instead then Mmmmm :biggrin

i'm only doing it that way because a usb cable has smaller connections than the 12V socket and can probably be tucked away easier

I used my Tomtom One all the way from france to the Isle of man and it was fantastic. I mounted it on my Aluminium bar that everyone took the piss out of but it was great.

Mines used to avoid the Motorways and major roads, much prefer riding on the B roads.

Oh! and find places that I've never been to before, maps tend to get fooked quite easily on a bike and yes I speak from experience as a DR (Despatch Rider) in the Army, did it for 3 years and so wished I'd had sat nav on many occasions.

Fond memories of trying to read soggy maps in the dead of the night thinking WTF am I doing here! LOL

Got the Navigo V3...loaded tomtom and its Superb :thumbup

Now to make up a bracket for the bike :biggrin

i'm very pleased with my bracket arrangement as i have 2 bikes that i swap the satnav around on. on each i have a RAM ball fitted, a telferizer on the RSV, and then a RAM mount that i have screwed the bracket that comes with the satnav too. swaps over in about 10 seconds with one thumb screw.

Here's my Ebuyer special all finished:

Is that plastic bracket sturdy enough to stop the satnav jumping out of it when on a bumpy road :confused

It's been tested on the bumpy roads of Kent for over 300 miles now and is still looking good.

It's sturdier then it looks and the nav unit is pretty light! :eatcorn

Apparently it's good for up to speeds of 148MPH :devious

Good stuff

made up a bracket, when you screw it together it holds in place in the hole in the top yoke...seems really sturdy, going to test it out tomorrow

Got TT loaded onto mine aswell then tried it in the car last week. Works really well. What a bargain!

Now all i have to do is make up a bracket to mount on the bike :doug

Tested it out today....Bloody superb, would never have found the bikesafe show without it...and coming home was so simple

Works a treat :thumbup

Only thing is, when the suns on the screen its hard to see, so may have to make it sit up at an angle, or make a little hoody for it :biggrin

yeah, i've found that it could do with a little shield/hood around the sides & top to shield the sunlight off the screen

Nice bracket mate.

Im going to make mine so its facing me more upright and hopefully design some sort of sun shield that mounts to the bracket.

Ill let you know when i have it done and post some pics :thumbup

Nice work!

This is mine that was excellent on the way to the TT!! didnt have to look down and it cost a grand total of feck all to make. It was also protected by the screen from a slight downpour.

Just had to undo the mirror bolts and rebolt the bracket on using the same bolts.
