Just read all these..

I was going to go but like other people I didn't go..

Weather terrible..
I have my son on the back who is disabled and he's been crying his eyes out on the back when caught in torrential rain before now..

Working part time now again because of personal circumstances, and my bike the most I've ever paid for one, and simply can't afford to bugger it up..

My own legs are shot due to hitting an artic and damp cold weather gives me severe cramps in my legs..Hence summer (AH) riding..

That's my excuse, plus used a bike all year round (No car) prior to my accident, and it's no fun being p**s wet through before you even ge to your destination.

Mark (Northern shandy drinking softy)

tax on fuel in this country is ridiculas nearly 75% of fuel cost is tax this government is wringing the life out of the average working man, i'm self employed plumber and only have one week of work left dunno what i'm gonna do once thats run out.and its only gonna get worse, who the hell voted these clowns (labour) into power they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. don't think i've ever been so stressed as i am now thank god for my daughter and my bike they still put smile on my face......:dunno

Good on you Factory boy for smiling when it aint going too well. Anyone can smile and laugh when its all going well. But more respect is due when guys like you gan put on a brave face and still smile when times are hard. I am sure summat will come up work wise bro. I for one did not vote labour and I am in a trade union ffs.
And Mark you don't need to justify why you didn't go. Bro if you cant go you cant go! And seems like you got enough on your plate old pal.

You are correct tho, Northerners are soft. And southerners are batty boys.

Real men come from the WEST COUNTRY

(runs and takes cover)

Factory boy i feel your pain in general. I don't have to commute so drive very little but costs in general are high for my businness. That and the arse seems to have dropped out of some of my market as well does not fill me with the joys of summer.

The country voted labour in. We are getting what they voted for. as i'm long enough in the tooth to have seen previous labour attempts in power I knew when Blair went (who was basically a Tory anyway) that it was gonna slide and fast.
Brown is a proper socialist and has been spending the highest amount per head on welfare of any country in the world. Do you feel pampered ?
But it's all been on tick and now the economy has dropped the revenue isn't paying the bills. Cut taxes! he can't.

Today i hear the Bank of england has revised it's inflation forecast for the last quarter saying it will continue to rise. That means we have interest rates likely to follow suit when they had predicted to be static till early 2009 then fall. Having been through a recession before it's gonna be painful for a while so dig in. Lets hope it's better than predicted.

The facts with fuel is they can't afford to drop the tax cos they are spending more than the treasury income. Oil will only drop as demand receeds. China is the driving force behind crude oil price as it is taking the bulk of supply to feed it's industry and expanding car ownership.

As ours and other ecomomies slow so will theirs as we are their market demand will follow suit. china already has 12% inflation and their economy is heading for a fall. With inflation that high and riseing their goods are increasing in cost. We just need to hold out till the bubble bursts as far as oil is concerned.

The good news is that if Labour lose big in the Scottish by election then Jack Straw/Harriet Harmon have a plan to oust Brown and install Harmon as acting Prime minister. It's not good news because she will be any better but just the thought of seeing thae arrogant **** leaving no10 in a removal van would cheer me up.

Labour? Spit spit, rant rant..Not going to get on my soap box over these..Though the others not much better..Can I have a new kitchen, works of art, furniture, electrical goods, home in Spain (Or 6 houses if called Blair) please on expenses.. Corrupt self serving ba**ards the lot of em..

To AUSrsv...That's a whinging pom in full flow ..:thumbup

Since the war, we've had the 2 parties back and forth in power, why do people continue to vote for them..

I've no idea really how the country makes it's money, but I thought manufacturing was the main money maker. (Destroyed by the tories)

But one things for sure, the vast majority of people are really struggling, whereas the wealthy are becoming ever richer..

I had no idea regards the numbers at the Aprilia Day althoiugh some of the pics look a bit empty on club aprilia that i saw.

I think if you look at the big picture nearly all of these sort of events are down in numbers quite a bit. I think the BMF was a bit of a loss and the NEC was a skeleton of what it was 3 or 4 years ago.

I did the Bristol Italian day and we had over 100 Aprilia's there so people will turn up if the weather/location is good. For me Yaxley would have been 8 or 9tortuous Motorway hours each way. Even if there were naked women waiting i would have taken some convincing to face the trip. (no i'm not Gay).

With the present economic climate etc events really need to be convenient distance cos most people want to go home afterwards or located somewhere you can't resist riding to. Ideally somewhere with a good spread of Hotels cos tents are not all that if you just want a good nights kip.

don't give up on aprilia day as maybe next year weather might be better and hopefully people will have a spare few quid in their pockets, ya need something to look forward too after all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why have we no manufacturing. Cos unions made it too expensive and unreliable so the goods didn't sell in the 60's /70's. So the bright sparks nationalised all the best bits which drained the coffers like a bucket with an ole. so along comes the tories and sells it off to Johnny foreigner or big corporates to save some pennies. Johhny foreigner now realises we don't have any industry of our own and sells the very goods we used to make in those companies back to us at shove it up ya jacksy prices cos they know we are stuffed for another option.

You see there is a pattern emerging here. Opps Northern Rock are struggling lets nationalise it. Now lets spend millions of public money putting it right and sell it. who's gonna buy it - You guessed it Johhny foreigner just like they have bought Abbey and now alliance and leicester. so they can then sell us back our own mortgage products at shove it up ya jacksy prices.

There ya go. that's how our ever so prudent chancellors and Prime ministors destroyed our industry. Until Political parties use proper business men to advise of business matters (like Branson etc) instead of an Ex union socialist or a twit from Eton then the cycle will continue till there is nothing left to sell.

Edf/Npower - French
Rover -Chinese
Vauxhall - Septic Tanks
Land Rover - Septic tanks
Aston/Jaguar -Chinese

Etc etc.

We got an English channel that everyone can fish except the English for christs sake. What's goin on :dunno

i honestly think were a joke in the eyes of the world, too scared to stand up to brussels and a lap dog to the us, polish immagrants everywhere and no i'm not racist, muslims who want to live by there laws and not r's . right now i am not proud to be british i'm embarresed. damn i shouldn't looked at his thread my blood is starting boil best go sit with my 3 year old daughter and read her a story that should cool me down!!!!

Not just the unions though, as they were only powerful in certain big industries..Look at textiles, no strikes there. The people worked in sweat shops for a pittance but made good quality garments..M&S put pressure on suppliers for cheaper goods and thus they moved manufacture to cheap third world countries putting tens of thousands out of work here (Also why M&s goods are now very poor quality to what they used to be)

We also had some fabulous designs but short sighted business leaders who wouldn't invest..Motorcycles a great example, they saw the Japanese but didn't think of them has a threat and carried on churning out the same pre war designs but on old pre war worn out machinery..

I watched a programme a few years ago about the Hinkley Triumphs, and Sir Harvey Jones who used to be the chairman of ICI couldn't believe that Triumph were manufacturing their own nuts and bolts..Triumph explained that they simply couldn't get the quality from the local engineering companies..

When he visited some of these, he couldn't believe they were still using machinery from before the war..The MD's of these companies all had the same reason for this.."They're cheap", though that didn't apply to their own top of the rang German cars.

Rover..They basically had a good product, but let down by poor management, their K series engine has a major flaw with the head gasket failing, this has been like that since it was first released ruining the reliability, and hence customers..That should have been fixed but wasn't.

The company I worked for wouldn't invest in new machinery, indeed when trying to get a part, the girl at the suppliers couldn't find the part number I'd given her, I pointed out ours was an old parts book, she looked for an old one at her end but still couldn't find the number, I asked how old her book was, "1969" she replied..oh "ours is 1942"...I eventually got the part, (Unchanged since the war)

In the meantime, each year that went by, the directors cars/perks got higher and higher value, whilst we struggled to maintain worn out machinery.

The unions get blamed for a lot in this country (Some of it justified) but remember, before the unions people lived in dire poverty in this country, indeed the only reason our children got free school milk was because as young men they were too malnourished to fight in the first world war..They were promised a land fit for heroes but came back to the same grinding poverty they'd left, same promise after the second world war, and the reason Labour got in by a landslide and the unions became powerful..

FPMSL, RS3 am with you to put the thread back on track, just dont want you to get too disheartened mate

i have the answer. Have the Aprilia Day in April. We seem to have had 2 good Aprils in a row lulling us into thinking the summer might be less than a monsoon only to be disappointed.

Or have it at an event like the MotoGp or Wsb (if that's poss). Lots of passing interest and a reason to go other than look at Aprilia's and hairy bikers.
