Do you sit lop sided now though ?

Actually i insulted a Fireblade owner in Spain once as i thought it was a CBR600 it was so small. Had a sit on an MV 1000 out there as well and that even looked big in comparison to the Fireblade.

Yeah, I had 2 fireblade owners giving me a bump start the other day :devious No other use for them is there eh :lol:lol:lol

i had a gsxr750k6 and without doubt i was faster on that bike than the 07 rsvr i have now but i prefer the size of my aprilia and its a lot more comfortable my 2nd new bike purchase i decided to buy what i liked the look of and i have no regrets the gixxer is a great bike but as was already mentioned i couldnt ride any of the bikes ive had to the limits so nice to be a bit different and own a non-jap sportsbike

I quoute: "the fun is coming out of the corners and watching the il4's change down cause there all peaky power"

I always knew the bhp would be more with the IL4 but the power delivery on the dyno graphs also shows it to be smoother than my RSVR. Looking at the power delivery the GSXR seems more managable power and not peaky at all. Don't get me wrong I can keep up if not ride faster on the RSVR I was just suprised to see the RSVR was more peaky and the GSXR smoother through the whole rev range. What will be causing my dip I am getting at 5500 rpm? PS I haven't done the flapper mod as yet but do find it really a pain when I am going through town at very low speeds just above idle. The bike is very lumpy and rough. Its all made better on the open roads though!

You are running the Rene air kit aren't you Mark? If you are, the flapper mod will not make any difference.
I would be surprised if your bike could be set-up much better than it has been knowing its past....

I have the EVO air kit not the Rene but not sure how much difference that will make. Why would the flapper mod not make any difference in that case? Does the air still not pass through the same ducting?

If it bothers you that much go get a boring GSXR 1000zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.................:nana

Sorry Mark, thought the bike had a Rene kit. Rene kit does away with the airbox so no ram air, drags in air from all around.
From what I have been told the flapper mod makes next to bugger all difference anyway....

I have never said it bothers me. The fact my bike isn't running so great and has some bad patches bothers me but I will try and get that ironed out if I can. I am on the other hand bored of listening to people reasuring themselves saying how thier RSVR has more Torque and smoother than the Jap IL4 etc etc so I thought I would show some proof that's not the case rather than just pub talk about how great people are at riding and beating other bikes. I still love riding the RSVR and have no intention of changing for another bike.

Personally I dont think I will ever ride my bike hard enough to ever know if I have flat spots etc and I know there are smoother bikes out there but If I wanted that, I would have bought a gixxer/R1/Blade or whatever and just followed the crowd :jack

All i know is that my bike is plenty fast enough for me....It was the looks, sound and feel of these bikes that drew me to them and not because it had the highest torque or best pulling power out of corners etc. :inlove

Ride magazine recently de tuned an R6 to give it more low down power, then had people ride a standard one and the de tuned one..Everyone preferred the detuned one for its useability..

Thats the point with a lot of the Jap sports bikes, as for me they're getting too small and peaky, whereas the RSV with its size is (For me) very comfortable, as I nearly always have my son on the back, on my previous R1 I found it very uncomfortable with his weight forcing me to get cramp in the legs and generally feel squashed...
The latest generation of Jap Thous (With the exception of the GSXR) are even smaller..

Well said mate, my exact thoughts as well.........:thumbup

Could you please tell me why some people on this forum always knock people like TarkMalbot.
All the guy is saying is he and his dad dynoed their bikes and the GSXR had more torque than his RSVR.
The way I see it is all he wanted was a discussion about it, not people telling him to go buy a GSXR.

Why compare in the first place unless you're not really happy with the bike you got

I dont care if the Gsxr, zx10 and Arse 1 have more hp or torque, i like the Aprilia RSVR and thats why i bought it......I just dont see the point in comparing it with Inline 4's....thats all

Personaly I think it's all a lot of bollacks, I've not met one person who can ride any sports bike to it's full potential on the road or the track:dunno unless they race for a living. It's easy to say how good you are on the internet, I thought the thread was interesting because of what it showed, but does it tell you how easy it is to ride it? No, Like lots of people have said the RSV is a niche bike some people buy one for the look, the sound, the engine or the size etc.personaly it was a bit of everything for me, and the reason I joined the forum was to meet people with the same bikes and also for asistance if needed, which has been brilliant, I would of been stuck without help from guys like V8, Legs etc. :thumbupHowever I just feel people get really tied up with all the power and delivery talk sometimes, I mean I read in one magazine that said the RSV was slow?? what a load of *****, 150mph+ is enough for anyone surely, unless your racing BSB or WSB??

I have had my mille for 8 years now and love it to bits..( and wouldn't change it for an IL4 ) but that doesn't mean I won't have a discussion's about other bikes.
When you see replies like that it puts people like me off from posting on the forum, people come on forums like this to learn not see people being put down.

I agree V60, I wasn't putting anyone down, I think the forum is great like I said, I hope I haven't upset anyone now.

rsvnelly..wasn't pointing a finger at you mate, was just saying it in general.
Over the years I have learned a lot from forums like this, all I am saying is don't put people down for comparing other bikes against Aprilia.. like TarkMalbot says he doesnt want another bike, it was just a discussion.
