Just received notification of the recall of some Caponord 1200's and the Shiver models because of the possibility of the wrong sized output shaft from the gearbox being used.
Free check at your dealer and free repair if required - hoping this doesn't turn into a parts saga!

Presumably the 20 minutes taken was to check IF yours need the "fix"?
Replacing an output shaft, for the small percentage of bikes that need it, would certainly need longer than that.

Have any of you looked at the recall letter properly? It clearly states that the part must be replaced. How can anyone can tell simply by looking. My local dealer has ordered the parts and will let me know when they've arrived so the procedure can be carried out. Better to be safe than sorry

According to my dealer it is a simple check to test the size of the output shaft and will only take 10 to 15 minutes.

Yes, that's why I started the thread. I have since been in to see the dealer (without the bike) when I was in the area and he has assured me that it will take only 10 to 15 minutes to remove the side casing and accurately measure the output shaft fitted. If it is not the wrong one then that's it. If it is the wrong one then it will need to be replaced.
He told me that he checked all their stock of Caponords and Shivers (?) and none of them had the incorrect shaft. It is only a possibility that it's wrong, it isn't definitely wrong.

Is anyone still waiting for the recalled parts yet? I have 7 emails into customer service and 3 voicemails. Still no response from customer service. I contacted NHTSA per Aprilia's letter to see if they could push this along. Still no response from Aprilia.
