In need of some help
My names Fitzy I live in Australia and ride a 2015/16 Caponord Rally it has 45,000 on the clock and has done some big outback trips in extreme conditions, it does get ridden hard at times but saying that, it is always serviced regularly garaged and looked after. It has not let me down once I love this bike and have many more adventures planned.

Key Notes:

WORKING
Heated grips
Blinkers
Auto lights
Speedo needs to get up to 100 then drop back under 30 then it will work other wise does not work at all, you need to do that every time before riding

NOT WORKING
Just about everything else not working Riding modes/ suspension modes/ traction control/ ABS
Driving lights working intermittently

QUESTION
Would it be an ECU?
Are they costly and how much?
Are they available and who supply’s them?

Have had some sign of rodent activity chewing on the seat.

G'day Aussie rally,

Rodent activity 😱......

The critters may have had a go at more than the seat......check t he wiring harness for damage.

Also strange things happen when the alternator begins to fail ....way back in 2017 when I had a 15TP my alternator shat itself at 39,000kms and 2yrs age, as the battery drained down the speedo was reading 300kph and all sorts of warning lights were flashing on the dash......

The Capo1200 ran until the battery drained out, but it was party time on the dash.... check the alternator and the charging system before assuming it's an ecu 👍.

Got any dongles plugged in? They can cause weird electrical issues if they Fritz out......

The Caponord is probably not the best 10yr old bike to ride in remote Aus.....it has complex electronics and likely no one knows much about them since they were discontinued so long ago.

Good luck getting that pretty machine going again 👍

Thanks for your reply
Looks like i might have to bite the bullet and do the trip to the dealer
Get them to check what you suggested and i have a new battery from my tuono that i could slip in
i love the bike it is a big unit and intimidating at times but does an incredible job doing long distances and carrying camping gear and still stands out in the crowd

Good luck.

Over on AF1 forum (if it's still there) they can get into the nitty gritty......there's all sorts of components that cause strange effects, like tip over sensor or exhaust servo etc etc.

Might be helpful to ask there too but your dealer (I thought they all disappeared after the Aus importer abandoned the brand 🤔) sounds like they might have the diagnostics to source the issue/s.

👍
