People and cleaning bikes, am i expecting too much ?

Yep my bike got a good cleaning. Over the last 3weeks it has rained practically continously here in Tasmania. Some areas have had their total winters' rain in a week!!:lol
My bike must be a rareity no foggy dash display, and the rear brake even works :thumbup
Really some of you either have a lot of spare time, or unrideable weather,:dunno being able to keep your bikes in showroom looks.
:cheers

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's the Rockers (greasy, nasty, and more interested in riding) against the Mods (poncey, effeminate, posers more concerned about image) all over again.
I hope that I'm not showing any of my prejudices...

I don't ride in the rain/wet/damp. No enjoyment for me in that so it's simply not an option. Sadly this means in the UK in 2009 that riding has become fairly rare.... LOL.

I`m with weeksy on this. I did all the wet weather riding when I was younger (and kept the bike spotless) but now have option of using a car.

Being a rocker/greaser etc didn`t mean you owned a bike. It was the norm. until some guys decided to ride scooters and follow a nice clean look (more to attract the girls) and different music.

I'm also in the Weeksy / England 2 camp on this. In 32yrs biking the winter / wet weather riding was tolerable when I had no alternative; but not now I have.

My bike is spotless and I get a lot of pleasure from keeping it in top nick. I still ride it pretty hard when I'm out and about and as for being poncey or effeminate for doing so , well anyone is welcome to come and have chat to me face to face about that.

I saw some pretty immaculate bikes at the Bulldog a few years ago, You'd be a brave man to call those bikes owners "Mods" Some of the cleanest bikes I've ever seen have been owned by angels

That's a pretty good post Falco.

Ahhh.......back in the day...........

For two years I lived off my bike - a ratty old GS1100G - that took me around the southern/central parts of this great continent. Rain, hail and shine. I've ridden through 48 degree heat in Tamworth, sat in pouring hail in Adelaide, ridden through sub-zero temps in Gundagai.

Now, I pick my riding days. Fortunately, we are blessed with great winter weather here, if only we had good roads. I have nothing to prove to anyone. Been there, done that, got the scars to prove it. And I too get enjoyment from seeing my Tuono clean and shiny - just not quite as clean and shiny as Weeksy et al.

Yup I know what you mean. Bloody hell 48 degrees of heat must have been an experience though. Personally I reckon this cleaning obsession thing is a combination of the UK weather and my age. The winters here in the UK are pretty crap (just like the summers) and I have teenage kids so an excuse to go out the garage and clean & polish the bike is a nice sort of escape. As an ex-engineer I also do a lot of mirror polishing during the winter months so I've become a bit of a "bling" maniac as well.

Here's the swinging arm I've got waiting to be fitted

About 8hrs solid hard work to get to this stage

Sad bas***d aren't I? No please don't answer that, I know.............:lol:lol:lol

really nice Falco but I gave up polishing ( nowhere near as good as that ) when I sold my Tridents. My swinging arm is painted although ?????????????????????????,mmmmmmmmmm.
No it`s staying painted

Awesome looking swingarm there Falco. Is it difficult to keep shiny like that when it's back where it belongs?

Weeksy: you'll have the lads around your place lining up to give your boy some cleaning 'practice' soon.

Like my dear ole Gran' Pappy said to me, "Those who can, ride......those who can't, clean" or some such feckin thing about teachers....I dunno. Never really listened to the old bugger....anyways I like to quickly polish the bits I can see and slowly thrash the bits I can't. Wheeeeeeeee.....int life grand :)

YAY!!! I went and collected another layer of bug spooge for Andiamo today while RIDING instead of spending several hours detailing her. You fuckers in the UK and you rat *******s in Oz have the opportunity to ride a **** load more than us Albertans. Ergo, rain does NOT stop me from enjoying a ride. Being 46 years young, I still have a couple of years to go before I start being a ***** about riding in the rain and cold. With half a pound of metal holding my right arm together, I do get a little grumpy at the end of a long day riding, especially if it's cold and wet. But I went RIDING! My personal raison d'etre. Any day that there isn't snow and ice on the asphalt is fair game to go riding. Maybe if I was in Scotland or Australia (no desire to live in England, sorry lads), I might be a little more particular about riding in inclement weather. But I live in Edmonton, and for many of the last several years I have come out from work to find a foot of snow on the asphalt and the need to catch a ride home. There isn't the luxury of a 365 riding season. Sorry to get so verbose... I just REALLY like to ride.

Is that what what makes you so ******* happy all the time - the great Canadian weather??? It's the last day of winter here and it's thirty degrees. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
pause for breath.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

I think I'll go for my second ride for the day........................hahahahahahahahahahahaha

As long as you don't ride through the winter months it's very easy to keep shiny. I just use MER car polish. The secret is not to clean it with anything abrasive, so Solvol and the like are a big No No

Of course if road salt got to it, it would be ruined in days, but as previously discussed I don't do winter riding, so for me it's not a problem.

You do realize, you pusillanimous, puerile, festering, dead camel fart sucking, goat humping, piece of dung that I am planning on moving to Australia and that I may bump into you and I may have to retaliate for that completely unjustified attack on my character.... Paybacks are a *****, Chunko, and I will expect nothing less than a guided tour of the best roads and a complete piss up (on your tab) for after the ride... Gawd, we heard the first geese heading south this morning... A very Canadian herald of the imminent demise of summer. That being said, it's supposed to be up t0 30C today, so **** cleaning the bike, LET'S GO RIDING!!!!

Oh, and Chunkster, I DO intend on collecting!

Me and the bike got wet today . My jeans and sweatshirt got wet , my jacket leaks. I should have stayed home as it didn`t rain there
