The clocks do re-set when the battery goes flat, also changes back to Kph from Mph (on my 2003 that is) and the clock goes to 00.00, sound like the disk's had it..defo not done 1070 miles if the disks are shot..was it an ex-track bike by any chance??

. Also I think the clocks are either new or this common problem of clocks resetting when the battery goes flat ..... I can see the front brake discs moving when I hold the brake on.

Hi Dan, welcome to the club. The clocks reset themselves with incredible regularity. I know of a few forum members that have the same issue. The front brake discs should be of the self-centering variety and will have some movement on it. At least that was the case on the 02 model, but I am sure if I am wrong, someone will correct me.

was the odometer issue not sorted out from my2006 on?
and isn't there meant to be a slight bit of play from the floating discs?
your local aprilia dealer should be able to check the ecu with axone to see how many hours the bike has run for

Yeah the front discs need to float (have a bit of play) As mine stopped, the bobbins werent spinning and the brakes had a massive juddering, and barely worked.

Fogg here, i've just joined as i'm picking up my first Mille later today, (the one in my avatar) let the fun commence!!!

Good choice buddy, buying mine was one of my best choices in my biking career!

And that one looks damn tidy, bet your well excited!
And your not too far from me... I`m down the road in worthing matey!

Shame you could have got your finger out, and got it when we still had the indian summer! :dowhat

An excellent choice. one went past me on the M6 last Sunday, note from exhausts was quite exquisite.

Hi, not sure if its ever been tracked at all. I bought the bike blind really but I knew it would need some minor (hopefully) work done to it. I took it out for a quick spin up the road yesterday and seems to be pulling abit to the right then also to the left. At first I thought it might be tyre pressures but they were fine. Maybe the bearings? The frame looks in good shape and cant see any obvious signs of being twisted so hopefully again not a major issue. Also the right-hand indicator flashes fine 3 times then goes fast even though no bulbs are out.... New relay? Thanks for your help chaps.

Danny m8 your dash is ****** mine went the same way second gen rsvr and the probs wi the milage dont happen on bikes past 2006 so if the indicators are fooked and your milage is wonky its the dash i had a pal check every bit of electrics on the bike had it in bits and it ended up wi a new dash not cheap mind i was lucky my dealer had one lying about and it still cost 200 smackers ussually around the 400 mark, i also spent a few months checking ebay but they are as rare as rocking horse **** ,sorry to be the barer of bad news buddy good luck.....

I would try the relay first just incase!
Electrical faults can be funny things, sometimes same symptoms, different problem.

Mine was pulling to one side when I bought it too. Turned out it was just the deprofiled front tire. didnt look that bad to look at, but when I changed it it was like a different bike.
Failing that you could check the forks havent just turned in the yokes. Had this a few times on my RVF after off`s. Basically you have to get the fron off the floor, slacken all the fork bolts, hold the front wheel, and tweek the handles bars so its all dead straight, then nip it all up. can take a few trys to get bang on.

To check if it is this you can ride along let go of the bars and see if the top yoke looks dead straight while moving, or if you can get access to to top and bottom of the forks, get two little straight edged, put them across the forks at the top and one at the bottom then look down at the ends and they should line up, if they dont, do the above....phew!
Good luck! ;)

Hi folks

Just saying hi.

While I've been into my Guzzi's for twenty odd years (some very odd) this is my first venture into the world of Aprilia, I pick the 2000 RSVR up on Saturday (just in time for winter!). I'm even selling my 2009 speed triple (on biketrader if anyone has some spare cash, its a goodun) to cover the cost of the RSV plus add funds into my winter Guzzi build 'project satan'

After the power and reliability of the Guzzi's its a bit of a step down ;-) but hopefully it'll be ok.

Looking forward to enjoying a V twin of a different kind, no doubt I'll be asking some questions as I get used to it.

Cheers

Mal
