Hi all, new to this site, been on the af1 forum for a while, i,m down in newquay, got a 2000 rsvr, vince told me to get my *** on here, fed up of the yanks talkin crap!

Welcome!

Can't say I blame you. This is a better site for UK riders anyroad. More local information all the way 'round. Af1 is more geared to the Texas area. Being a "Yank" myself, I can say I get rather threadbare reading what some people write. There are idiots everywhere, it just seems some Americans want everyone to know how mentally disorganized they can be. Cheers!

ha! no offence intended, but you know what i meant! took my bike out for the firs time in 2 months today, was starting to forget how fun it is!

Hello I am KingDan, new to the site I usually hang at the AF1 site...

Good to have someone in Dorset with unquestionable taste!

Be sure to read the threads already posted as there are some things you need to be aware of, such as the cooling system hose clamps and the tank vent/kinked line possibility. I went to a one-size-smaller pinion as well---from a 16-tooth to a 15-tooth. Big difference in the low speed rideability, not as much clutch needed.

If you need more info, do ask. I'll be right here. You've chosen well!

Cheers for the reply,

I've gone for 3 bigger on the back, 2nd gear feels a little tall on roundabouts still, either that or im going to slow :)

It's in for a 6k checks and i'm not too sure if the first ones were done properly (done by In-moto in croyde) so im going to have the valve clearances checked again. Hopefully they will check for the problems you mentioned.

I've no reason to not trust In-moto but i want to keep the bike for a long time, so just doing it to satisfy myself.

From what I've read and my own experience, the shops will not do anything about the clamps on the cooling system. I bought some good German-made ones (Gems-I believe) and installed them myself. The thing about those clamps is: they may function properly for a few thousand miles or they could let you down after 100, as mine did. I had a slight weep at the radiator connection, as seem throught the fairing cut-out. I had "blue" on my fairing. They are crimp-type and so, cannot be tightened. The screw-type with the rolled edges are the best. Buy eight in the 20-30mm range and replace every one you find.

The fuel tank on my bike would build negative pressure and would become difficult to open with the key. From the threads I've read, in the summer it may build positive pressure. Gas expands under heat and has been known to cause the paint to come off in great flakes! When the tank is raised for maintenance and then lowered, the line that goes to the evap cannister under the tail cover will kink immediately aft of the fuel tank, thus closing off the only relief the tank has. What I've done is reroute the line and associated check valve, (White or Gray round thingy) to the outside of the frame to make it easier to grasp and move WITH the lowering of the tank, eliminating the kink. It works.

Cheers, mate!:cheers
