My first Twin!

Well done so far woodzy, haven't being on site for a while but very impressed with how much progress you have made in 6months, given me a kick up arse to get my 02 to bits and get some improvements done, hope the weather brightens up and we can all get some miles in, isn't your mrs always at you being in garage all time?

Should be the same I think mikee unless its a late 03 I think they had a smaller one?

Cheers mate! Haha yup looking forward to getting some miles in and hopefully having griff do my co and tb end of july. Fortunately we have an integral garage in the place we rent so I pick my moments to sneak off ;)

Woodzy is an inspiration to many of us (at least to me!). I just bought myself a polishing kit and I'm also going to do my header pipes this winter (uhhh, we had 2 winters in a row without a summer in between).

Chaz, glad to hear it and to be off assistance :cheers

Lloydie, I have only lost 2 exhaust guards so far lol

Next week I will be cutting my fairings with the aid of an original template I managed to source!

The bike sounds better than any bike I've heard apart from a supercharged or turbo bike :pirate

Well chuffed!

Need to get the cans polished when possible.

BIG THANKS TO NICKYBOY FOR SENDING ME THESE STICKERS FREE OF CHARGE! LOOKING FORWARD TO FITTING THEM

This is how it looks right now. I haven't got the can spacing 100% right yet.

Cheers bud.. I do want them to be higher ideally but need pillion pegs

Custom made pillion pegs may be the long term solution

Carbon hangers have arrived..

Man they look awesome. Next up is cutting the fairing, having some custom made hangers made up same the same dimensions as these bad boys for pillion use and a damn good clean..

That's more like it!

Next month going to look at having the cans polished and to fit the stickers. Got me the original akrapovic instruction manual, certificate and cut out templates. If anyone needs a scanned copy let me know :thumbup

I am looking for one of these though if anyone has one. It is the bolt that runs through the dog bone to the frame.

It is replaced with a longer one that comes with the akra exhaust to fit the chain guide.

Ordered some red scotchbrite pads and wow they work very well on the cans!! They will be coming off tomorrow night for a good polishing back to standard and the stickers nickyboy sent me fitted Big smile

Pictures to come...

Got hold of the right size bolt and fitted the chain guide, bike is absolutely flying! Looking forward to having Griff sort the CO levels and sync the tb's. I will be taking lots of notes lol

Been busy this evening cleaning up the cans, very impressed with how they turned out. I went weak at the knees upon seeing the finished result lol!!!

Teaser...

Well chuffed. Also removed my squeaking front pads tonight and gave the required bits a dab of copper grease.

Bike has also had its 3rd oil change since its been with me... I think it may be burning oil, no smoke though and yup checking as per the correct method.

Found out the mono cans I'm running have a larger spout than the Evo system original cans by a few mm, wonder how this will effect performance? More power top end? Looking forward to having griff work his magic next week Clap

BAM!

Haha oh yes, they way forward I reckon.

Cheers lads.. Been a while since my last update as I've been busy with work and managed to bag a fantastic holiday with my landlords on a 51ft Yacht in the south of France which was awesome, proper bond location!!

Aprilia day down in Poole was great. Highly recommend Griffs services, good to meet some of the lads of the forum also.

I can now say that the bike handles very, very well.

I am over the moon with it. I had the CO and TB setup also and its running spotty dog apart from a minor stutter off idle which Griff has kindly advised he will figure out exactly what is causing it and have another fettle when I can head over to a service day or up to the shop.

Just need more riding time now!! Smile

Few more pics... mmmm bike porn!

Just couldn't help my self

Sounds much deeper in person Thumbs Up

Very happy!! Now... whats next..

Looks fantastic mate....the akras look the bollocks.

You mentioned it's using/losing oil earlier?
About 150ml per 750-1000 miles is fairly normal. Loads use this amount.
Last time I was in Germany with several of the other guys on Apes, half of us all needed to top up a bit.
They tend to use more the more you spank them.

Cheers. Tifa I dont think its using an abnormal amount and it does seem to depend on how I ride it.

Body work and decals next I think. Not sure what to go for, will be a winter job possibly involving stripping the bike to oowder coat the frame. Rear wheel needs refinishing also.

Sure is mate! I said to myself when I got it must do tyres and suspension first lol!

Hows yours going?

I've kinda run out of things to do.....just bought a rear m/c off a RSV4 (the one withy the inbuilt reservoir) so I might put that on just to tidy things up a bit more.

I've got Maxton suspension f & r, and it's been great so far.....but since speaking to Richard there, and looking at their website....there's a new upgraded TTX shock and BIG PISTON fork internals calling out to me...lol
