Thank for all the replies fellas :thumbup

Im slowly starting to ease up a little, still taking painkillers and not sleeping but feeling a little brighter in myself.

Guess you all wanna know what happen ?

Well i was taking the exit from a dual carriage way when the front end just tucked in, i grabbed the front brake :doh the bike stood up right and went up over the adjoining kerb and straight onto the other dual carriageway. As soon as the front wheel hit the kerb i was chucked over the top of the bike landed on by back in the path of on coming cars , i was sent spinning down the road on my back, then side, then front, then side and finally came to a stop on my back. How a car didn't hit me god only knows.

I never ride with out a back protector and the ambulance guy said it stood a good chance i would have broken my back had i not have been wereing it. On the downside is the Knox back protector was only 2 weeks old and is now in the bin , ARSE !!!

Didnt manage to get any pics of the bike cos it was picked up by my mate, (thanks Boz) stripped of the goodies, can, Rene airbox kit etc and was then collected by the insurance folk. i have a few shots of my leathers and lid, sorry for the blurry photos, my hands are still a little shaky.

As you can see the helmet is fooked and the leathers have more scuffs then i can photograph, they also have many splits on them and the zip was ripped off !

All in all im a very lucky lad .

Well i guess the next question is, "Am i getting another bike ?"

Well folks the answer to that is NO !

Im done, ive had plenty of fun over the last 8 years riding but its time to call it a day. I crashed 2 years ago and since then the bikes only covered just over 2000 miles and ive binned it again, i feel third time around i may not be so lucky. Cant say i won't miss it cos i will, but ive got a wife and two kids under the age of 5 that i need to think about.

All i can say is it been fun and for god sake if you aint got a back protector, ******* get one !!!

Which leads me nicely on to this, In the next coming months i will be selling off my spare parts/ clothing/ spare dainese back protector etc.

Keep ya eyes peeled in the For sale section !

Cheers,

Ritch

Gutted for you mate, hope you mend quickly, then you can get the bike back to it's best

Get yerself back in one piece and you might change your mind about giving up bikes.:dunno Shame to give up bikes alltogether but thats a terrible experience you have just been through.

I am guessing you have made up your mind tho as you mentioned the kids thing and you have had a life changing experience.

My advice to you is to get a two stroke crosser and get your bike buzz that way. :thumbup

Very very lucky there Ritch. I think if that happened to me i'd give up too. get well soon :thumbup

That is one hell of an experience to go through and walk away from Ritch. I can fully understand you wanting to give it up and put your family first :thumbup

Mend and heal quickly squire. Take it easy my good man :thumbup

Thanks for the replies fellas,

Its good to know im not being called a pussy for not getting back on it :biggrin

To be honest i could jump on a bike now and it would not bother me one bit, it's the fact i do need to think about the effect it would have on my family.

Im not saying i aint never gonna ride again but maybe in a couple of years and when i have a few more quid in the bank i may try and venture into getting a cheap trackbike, but for now im calling it a day.

Take it easy boys/gals

Cheers,

Ritch

All the best Ritch. I understand totally why you aint getting back on the bike. Family is ALWAYS at the back of my mind, and every so often it comes to the forefront.

All the best, and I am glad you are OK (ish)

What a nightmare Rich.....I know exactly what you're going through as binned my bike big style on Sunday morning....can't face to put pictures on the zone, but I think Sharky may do the 'honours'...... mud on the road, just round a bend, no signs on road to tell motorists, back end slid, then must have dug in and i highsided & slid down the road on my back followed closely by my bike!. Bike absolutely mullered down one side, all my kit is shagged BUT apart from heavy bruising to my wrists & hip, very sore neck...No broken bones & the nice man from the recovery company has just took the bike off to Forza Italia for the verdict!
Anyway hope you get over your injuries soon mate and I for one agree that having a long think about continuing biking is a sound idea...all the best.

Mate, when fate tells you it's time, it's time. Get well soon.

When fate tells you it's time...............
Then it's too late.

Anything else.
It's a wake up call.

When any of the sports bikes bite back...
They bite hard.
