That's what I want to know. Are fittings the same for the old and new shape bikes?

Bracket angle is different post 04. The GSXR stand is a perfect length for the post 04 but 1 " too long for pre 04 for example.

You'll have to buy one and just try it out.

Well done Tim by the way for being persitant.

Excellent. Now I'm hunting for one to fit to my bike so I don't have to keep checking it.

Thanks again for sharing that with us. :thumbup

Right i have bitten the bullet and just purchased from ebay an 06 CBR1000RR side stand with mount and spring. when it arrives i will try it on my 57 plate.
Fingers crossed this works, if not it will be available to purchase for anyone with a pre 04 bike.

Looks like its going to be too long mate. I have BB1000 stands with an inch cut off it and its perfect!

It looks like the new and old bike mounting brackets are totally different!

just paid £21 with postage. and if it doesn't fit you have first shout.

will let you all know as soon as it arrives. This is all starting to make me mega paranoid about the stand situation. been following the threads for some time, have had a budsy on for about 12 months, with as far as i know no ill affects, but last years on a trip to Wales did use the stand to lift the rear wheel to lube the chain. luckily my bike has spent most of its life in the garage on a paddock stand, but i haven't looked at whether the stand has suffered or not. i could not bare to find her laying on her side all damaged, so must be replaced. even thought about going back to the original and just being careful were i park it.
Any how i must resolve this problem for my own piece of mind. hind sight is a terrible thing, i do not want to be the one that says if only i had done something about that sooner.

Ive bought 3!!,one's already on the Falco,I'll replace the one on the Mille which has a busbywoo one at the moment,I just dont trust it now that a few of the guys have had them break ,Ill stick it on flebay & othe cbr stand my mate will have,Ihad put an offer on one & wasnt patient enough to wait, shame the switch doesn't work a lot better made than the aprilia one but it only has 2 wires, the plug fits an all!

Vince is there any mods that need doing to the CBR stand.
is the hole already drilled in it for the side stand switch. does the bolt pass through from the front the same as the aprilia or does it require moding like the GSXR stand, or is it a straight swap. If it is a straight swap the only thing left to worry about is if the length is right for the new shape, and if if fowls the exhaust and requires a weld to adjust the retracted position.
I'm the same as you, i'm not saying that my budsy will fail, but i couldn't bare it if it did, and i could have done something to prevent it.

Tim, that garage is a mess and FFS get that bike washed and polished. :devious

Well done with sorting out your side stand, can see that Honda side stand prices will shoot up in price shortly. LOL
