Hi all, just joined the forum as i traded my '98 R1 in for a old/original style silver '06 Tuono last weekend, still getting used to the differences but already have a permanent grin whilst riding! I've been flicking between fighters and race bikes over the last few years but I'm pretty sure I've got the right one now, hopefully see some of you up Rivington Barn or Devils Bridge for those in the NW. Seems to be alot of useful information of this and few other Aprilia forums. My bike seems pretty stock at the moment, monster standard exhaust & 17/42 gearing - I've not worked out where any chip would be hidden yet (I think I saw the computer boards under the seat when fixing on a quick charger to the battery?) but I doubt its not standard. I have had a look around the forum but couldn't find the answers to my mechanically inept basic questions, also apologies if this should be in another section, but before i splash the cash, is a chip or powercommander needed if putting on an end can or will it run fine without? 15/42 seems to be a reccomended gearing - would a new chain required to change from 17/42? Sorry for prattling on, thanks

You can put it onto map 2 with a pair of side cutters, but I would recommend you take it to someone in the know about these things
Charlie Tuono springs to mind, (Rocket Centre) the chain will foul on the swing arm pivot point with a 15 tooth front, most use 16 / 44
on the early Tuono's (same chain), if you look on www.tuonoworld.com there is a section on there that tells you how to de-restrict a gen 1
Get a can on it and get it onto map 2 before you go down the PC route.

Nice intro by the way.:thumbup

Hi all, some of you might know me from another forum, TW. Got a couple of Aprilia's , a Mille track bike and another gen 1 Mille I am converting to a................ well, mixture of Mille, Tuono, Falco bit of Dorsoduro and RS50! Its called a "Milfuono" Sounds horrendous and it might turn out that way but hey you gotta try something different. Some pics to follow as its nearly done. Am up in North Wales so hope to meet a few of you out an about

Hello everyone. Kevin here. Live in Japan but from the US. Retired Navy. I don't have a Tuono....yet. Currently have a 2008 KTM Super Duke R and a 2011 Suzuki GSX-R750. Good site, starting to look around.

Hi All,

New here, friend of Liam (Moggi), just recently purchased an 04 Tuono.

And loving it so far.

Hi all

Finger here

I jest got a 07 tuono blue & white lots of extras (thursday night)
But me thinks i may have to got back to my old KWAKER ?

I filled it up on friday morning to go out for a ride & only did 60 miles & the fule light came on ?
The bike is smelling of fule from the air box & the cans, My mate was following me & told me that a strong smell of fule was coming from the bike ?

I rang the shop from the side of the road & the sale man told me that the bike had been on the dyno on the thursday morning & set up ?

There is no power commander on the bike ?

So what do i do ?

Love the look of the bike but how can i sort it out ?

Thanks Finger

Finger it could be a few things. I normally get 85 to the fuel light, so either there's a fuel leak, or there's a problem at the air filter end. was the bike serviced, as if it can be overfilled with oil, which will blow out via the air filter.
Not sure what the dealer means about being set up on a dyno, unless it has a power commander, in that case its been done wrong. If the bike has after market cans on, it should be set to map 2, if standard ones on, map 1. Is the dealer an Aprilia dealer? If not, he's probably clueless about the bike.
No doubt other members will will be along with some other views & advice.

Hi grin factor

The dealer is not a aprilia dealer, they told me that they will do oil & filter, C&S before they drop the bike off to me.
I rang them today & was told the bike was taken to a Aprilia dealer to be remapped for the blue flame can's & not put on a rolling road.
There is no power commander on the bike.

The dealer is coming to pick the bike up on tuesday morning take it back to the aprilia dealer to see if they can sort it out ? bring it back to me so i can test ride it.
I have told them that if it is still the same then they can bring my old bike back & take the aprilia away as there is not much of the summer left & i wont a bike i can ride with no worry's about it.

Thanks for your help finger

Lets hope you get a result Finger. The T is a good bike & loads of fun when running right.
Keep us updated mate.

hi guys , just put a deposit on a 2011 APRILIA TUONO V4 R APRC in YELLOW, pick it up next thursday , just got rid of a errrmm honda cb1000 r, a very boring bland bike to say the least !! so hi guys pics will follow :)

Hello Folks

picking up a tuono on saturday. Early gen2 in orange/white/black/blue...you know the one!

lots of blades and a loveerly RSV-R colin edwards rep in the dim and distant past. Due my accelerating years the T seemed a lot more comfy whilst still feeding my inner hooligan! :thumbup

Based in north west england for the last 20 years but i'm an exiled yorkshireman by birth

you can always tell a yorkshireman....you just can't tell him much

thats me
