Hi all. New to this forum. I have a problem with my 04 RSV factory R. When i turn the bike off after a run it starts making an electrical noise as if the fuel pump is priming. It is only intermitent but when it does it it flattens the battery over 2 or three days. At first i thought it was the aftermarket immobiliser that was fitted, so i removed it to illiminate it from fault but the fault is still there. When the fault occurs the red key light on the dash glows dimly (think it should go out completely) but flashes as it used to.
I only got the bike last march and appart from the common back brake fault and a slight oil leak the bike has been fine.
If anyone has had a similar fault or has any ideas it would be muchly appreciated as the bike dies without its optimate life support unit.
Cheers Tim

I can't say I've ever noticed a red key on my dash but that fault sounds like it's connected to the key immobiliser to me, just a thought.

The white connectors on the left inner fairing panel above the immobiliser ecu are prone to corrosion and can make the immobiliser do strange things.

Often when they have an issue your idle goes a bit squify and may idle higher than normal but not always.

First thing I would do is check all connections are tight and not corroded. It's surprising how many people get caught out by such a simple problem. Myself included.

Well thanks for the hints. Had a look last night at all the connections to the immobiliser ecu and it seemed that when one of them was wiggled the electrical clicking started. When the same connector was disconnected the same clicking happened so it seems that a bad connection is / was the fault. I gave it a bit of a clean then a squirt of WD40, now only time will tell.
Cheers all, next the oil leak!

Well the fault went away for a week but its back again and this time wiggling the wires made no difference. I think its going to have to go to the dealers

thats pooey mate, where was your oil leak from, mines just started weeping from the jubille clip on the rigid pipe going in to the oil rad. Drove to the garage upright today as I had 3 inch strip of oil contaminated tyre to ride on.

Not quite sure where the leak is coming from. All i know is the front cylinder is a bit wet down the front. I only found i had a leak because i took the fairing off to remove the after market immobiliser (which turns out is not the fault).
