Help Please!!!

Well i now checked the immobiliser ecu and its pukka. Looking at this part, its all been sealed etc and all wire connections soild. So am still backing on the regulator not working, someone said if it was that then the voltage would go higher...if its not working correctly, i beg to differ mind you...Buffallo is sending me one to check it out..Many thanks.I also hopefully should have a lad that is a wizard with bike electrics, so maybe he can check through all the wiring which may have something to do with this....Please oh please get better bike, cos am missing it loads!!!!!:roll

Ps iff worse case scenario and it is the stator, does £297.00+vat seem correct????

One other thing...What else should i be looking at for any wiring faults under the seat and pillion area?? There is a small black box with two green fuses..this seems fine anything else i shoulde be checking..Checked the starter solenoid too...

Here you go Daz - Click Me. Damn sight cheaper here but gotta admit I have never used them before.

Comes with a 12 month warranty so can't be that bad mate.

Wright guys, i have just read another thread from a lad called maf!!!ECU Gremlins...Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! or something like that...His symptoms on his bike are also relating to mine also...Bike starting try and and rev it and cuts out. Exhaust yesterday was misfiring from right hand can also....However this would not explain low voltage readings on battery?? Do you think there is something wrong here also..Atmospheric pressure sensor???
Plugs and leads are fine, am going outside to see if i can here for air bubbles in the tank when i turn ignition on...On sunday morning i ran the bike until light was on.... and then filled up later on in afternoon. bike started to play up on sunday???

Daz, if your voltage drops below 10.1V at the ECU then your gonna get all kinds of error codes thrown up.

The transistors in the ECU will fail to operate correctly and this will cause miss-fuelling, incorrect ignition timing etc...

This will cause your bike to rev poorly and pop and bang in the exhaust.

Sort out the charging state first before reading any further info.

Have you not got a local bike tech who is friendly and knows Aprilias?

yeah dont look to deep mate as amb said. the one problem is causing everything by the looks of it. did you unplug the brown connectors and look inside them just to make sure ?

dont get to wrapped up in the forum post to much as you start to convince yourself that your bike has every symptom ,the prob with forums is that all the faults are listed as well as the good stuff . dont be disheartened as when you sort it you can rest assured you have all the other bases covered and checked ie (brown connectors etc etc )

stick with it mate its only a machine ;-)

Daz, when you get round to getting that multimeter and taking those readings as we discussed, if you get stuck give us a buzz.

Get yourself a webcam and get on MSN or Skype, move the PC to the garage and we'll do remote mechanics. LOL

Hi Daz,

I had my RSV out of action for 5 months with an electrical fault - spent ages doing all the wiring mods, taking apart and cleaning all connnectors, put a new ECU in etc etc, turned out to be the immboliser ECU. I don't think it is that as symptoms were:

1) Intermittent starting
2) Would idle at 3000rpm
3) Meta alarm did not work

IMHO I would do one of the following:

1) Hold down the lap timer switch (small triggerwhich flashes the lights) and turn on the ignition. Hold in for 15 seconds - this starts the diagnostic sequence. You will see a code appear at the bottom of the dash. If it is a 2 digit number, match it to your user manual and it will tell you what is wrong. Howver this is only if the problem is with the ECU or EFI system. If it begins with a P e.g. P14 this a ghost code that is not recognised and will be a component that is not in the user manual.

2) Spend £30 and take it to your local Aprilia dealer and get them to stick it on the diagnostic equipment there.

The thing I learnt from doing all the work is actually there is not a lot that can actually go wrong with these machines, it will be something simple.

If you have a few quid, it's worth putting a new starter solenoid on. If you go to somebody like wemoto, they provide a 150A solenoid (the original Aprilia one is only 50A) so starts better anyway.

Keep us posted, and try and stay positive - as the guys said these bikes are fantastic!!

daz, i cant find the reg/rec, i will check garage 2moro , looks like wor lass has been tidying up. make sure you have checked the brown connector r/h side in between cyl heads pic below they always f**kin up.

Hi all. Thanks Buffalo for trying mate. Am sitting at the bike just now with the microreader thing. And i have the brown connectors all seperated and inspected. Know signs of melting and very little corrosion. I have tried to call Amb as he will take me through the testing procedure, unfortunately there is no answer from his phone. And am up against the daylight here......Anyone else know how to test connections?? Let me know thanks Daz...

Getting there slowly but surely..Should defo find out tommorow morning if its the stator or the regulator......:eatcorn

Ah cheers kawsakiinit...Just wating to hear from Amb(Alan) at the mo..So will hopefully be in touch with him tommorow...Its been a painful experience cos its been glorious sunshine every evening this week. (My house its situated on the famous Raglan to Abergavenny road) well known for a good rip along and the sound of bikes has been loud and roaring this week..Boo Hoo me!!!!

Anyway i have a gut feeling it may be the stator, which is not the end of the world really, just been a little unlucky. But i know it will be up and running soon, and cant wait to hear the Boom Boom Boom V Twin again ticking over....:thumbup

Kawa i do like the red seats they look nice i was lookind at a set on flebay but they where off an 07 tuno so dont think they fit my 03 mod

lee if you like you can post the seats to me and i can get em done for ya where i got mine done in the same material if poss . the quality is as good as factory fit .
or i can get the address of the place so you can deal direct with em in preston . i had to have mine done twice as the first place (upholsterer) really made a pigs ear of em and as you know i wont have crap. upholserering car and bike stuff etc is total different job to furniture etc . if you can find a vehicle/boat/caravan retrimmer nr you that might be the way forward also..

mine cost 45 quid cash for both and they suplied the material as well :thumbup
