I got caught in the open in a monster thunder storm Friday.

Rode home ... put bike in garage

Went to start it today and feck all

No click

No nothing

Dash all lights up ok

Lights horn indicators all good

Tip over switch ok (hear it click)

Battery at 13.5V

So what has dieded in the wet ...:dunno

Starter button or solenoid?

I assume the 30A fuses are something to do with starting?

Any way I've checked them all and they are intact.

Have to say that under the seat was ******* ringing ... never had that on a bike before,.

BOLLOX::mad:

Did you pull the connectors apart from the ecu and check them? Ringing maybe the shorted wet wires. Have heard it before on the job.

Oh mate that's bad news. Good job you weren't wearing the urban cammo trousers they'd have been soaking. I picked my bike up a year ago and rode it home in the pissing down rain. Luckily i didn't suffer any I'll erects bit it sounds like it's a common problem.

Any roads have you thought about getting a small heater and placing it by it to dry it out. I bet it starts 1st time in the next day or so. Will keep my fingers crossed for you fella.

If I'd had my deregeur urban cammos on I'd have had dry legs ... and a dead bike!

I've got the seat off, cowl off, Optimate plugged in ... what else can I do?

Funny (?) thing is I did try to find a tree to park under during the height of the storm but decided that the threat of death from lightning was a good reason to find more open ground. I also kept the engine running while parked because that liddle Aprilia owners voice in my head was whispering "Dinnae be so silly Newelly min - it won't feckin start if you turn it off ya fud"

Yes ... my Aprilia voice is Scottish

Feck sake

BOLLOX BOLLOX!

Where's that Speed Triple brochure?

If you dont have a small heater you can always use your hair dryer

hi newelly, know you might av tried ev,thing. make sure its not in gear. sumtimes it can b in gear and still giv you a neutral light!!!!
worth a try..

Pinny failing the hair dryer cos we've met him and seen that hes growing taller than his hair so has no need for one. He could always stand in front of it talking of the pro's and cons of urban cammo gear cos we both know hes full of hot air. Thats bound to dry the t out. Oooooo hahahahaha.

Have you looked at the side stand swich , they play up evry now and agayn wen water ingress has happend , and the water gets traped in side .:cool2

Side stand ok

Bike defo in neutral

When I turn the key there is the "whirrrrr" noise .... needles go round then back .... but utter silence. No fuel pump noise, not glimmer of a click from the starter button or solenoid ... **** all.

I'll ring Griff tomorrow

Bloody glorious day here today again as well.

BOLLOX

try putting it in gear (3rd) push forward turning the engine slightly, then neutral and start.

Hello Garry

I tried bump starting it today ... 3 attempts pushing it to the top of my road and then peddling with feet to 16mph left me gasping and heaving for air ... but the T would not fire

I may have to get my mate to take it and me in his van to Aprilia Performance ... or the tip!

Open the the locking bit on the area in front of where you sit and add fuel?

Ok will stop now as i would be gutted if it was my bike. Hope you get it sorted soon.

If only it was as simple as that ...

I'm bloody gutted I can tell you.

I'm sure many on this forum would tear in about their steeds with all manner of tools and DIY flair.

Whereas I keep wandering down to the garage and well, sort of staring at it.

I've spotted a lovely newer T on E-bay by the way but if this experience degenerates into a cash festival I may well have to look at chopping her in for a ...

STOP IT WELLY!

All will be fine and the T shall thunder again soon.

You sure you checked awe the fused 100%. When the speed sensor exploded on mine due tae wet gettin and shortin it oot it blew two fuses. This gave awe the same symptoms ie everything lit up but deid on the starter button and widnae start even wi a bump start 9 an man is that a ****** hard joab!) When ah checked fuses ah missed one first time roond. Turns oot the wan fur the starter an fuel pump had blown (blue 15A ah think it wiz)

Also have ye looked at the diagnostic menu oan yer dash tae see if theres a code as it micht point ye in the richt direction.
