Hi after getting some info in another thread, I purchased some stabilizer from eGay £8.00.

Do I just put it in tank and forget about it?

Do I need to run the engine for a while so the treated fuel is all round the fuel system?

Do you have to drain that fuel and replace with non treaded fuel when you wish to ried bike agian?

What does it say on the tin?
Usually a cup full is plenty for a tank of fuel.(Check the instructions on the tin for mix ratios)Just pour it in and slosh it around by rocking the bike on the brakes.(Make sure you remembered to close the fuel cap.)You dont need to start the engine,....although you could just turn the key to prime the fuel pump.
You dont need to drain the fuel before using the bike again.

on the subject of stabilizer whats the best option:
1- run the fuel down low?
2- fill the tank and add stabilizer?

Cheers KB, looks like a trip to the garage during our Christmas heatwave.

Patients Aldo, I havent got the stuff yet, so I can't read the instructions. I was just asking for advice from people who have used it before, sorry to trouble you. fuD. wooops fD.

Got my motorex fuel stabilizer in post today, dead easy, just tip full 125ml bottle in tank. Done, for upto 6 months. fD

I've never used this stuff when storing my bikes over winter. Don't fuels have additives in them now to stop oxidation etc?

Garry, I suppose its from messing about with old bike for years, some that had'nt been run for years and the carbs always needed a good clean out. Also a few years ago I put perfectly running bandit away for winter, in spring it would not run right at all, carb problems, cleaned em out etc, bike was fine, I know we are talking carbs, not injection then, but it has made me run my bikes through winter since. Now I have decided not to run bike so much the stabilizer will give me peace of mind. fD

fD, one of ma muckers has a bandit 600 and he never uses it, I was on his case about giving it a run every now and then. He chose to ignore ma advice and didnae bother his arse. End result is that the carbs are toast, no ammount of chemical solution nor ultra sound treatment would shift the shellac that's built up on the air ways etc.

Yeah I know, mine was never the same after standing, flogged it to a trader, he paid me quite well cos it ran ok for a while, just top end miss sometimes, which he never detected...
