Jesus has it been this long,
Took the battery off the weekend and charged it, checked it this morning and its holding charge at 12.3 v. slapped it back in the bike and fired it up, and its showing 11.,5v and not moving when I rev it. I think its definitely new stator time.

Not a lot of people know but I`m sure if you sell a motor vehicle you are liable for 3 months warranty .

worth checking ?????

Dude , your mrs should have made a sackfull of 5p,s by now off working the museum steps !! .:lol
go get yourself a new stator and rec/reg and get the ****** sorted .

:thumbup

Just looking at the M&P stator, and its giving the same part for all years? that's wrong surely?

that's the one I bought !! and I measured the the int and ext diameter on the new and the old stator , the new stator is smaller by about 6 mm on the ext diameter .
I think this is to technically lower the mag field due to the air gap being bigger . thus lowering the wattage of the output .
sound bollox but is physically correct .
I think the part no is correct for all gen 2 v twins . 06-10.

So finally got around to stripping the T. This is the old Stator, I think that is technically shagged, and the oil didn't smell too clever either. By the looks of the liquid gasket around the casing, I'm guessing its not the first time its been off, which also explains why I have a black connector.
Anyway do I need a puller to get this out now? because its not shifting, or do I have to admit that I'm now too old and feeble to do this sort of crap?

No puller needed....once the bolts are removed there shouldn't be anything holding it in place...

Bought the wrong stator.

And yer woes continue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,stick at it mucker,,,,,,,,,,,,you'll get there. :yes

For all of you that have invested in my story, today I give you closure :thumbup:cheers
The T is working again, although it's a bit chilly to do a proper road test, that will have to wait until its a little warmer.
But we have 13.1 volts at tickover and 14.2 volts at 3k revs. The good news is the battery survived and maybe later in the year I'll switch the reg/rec with the old unit just to see if that is still usable.
Just need some money for decent tyres ready for summer :eek2

Good news Sheep, glad you got it sorted
Can you sort some good weather next
:bigsmile:bigsmile:bigsmile

I ve been ill for a while with this fookin virus **** that hit me very badly !! and have not been on here in a while ( normally while im at work , to combat the boredom !!)

im real glad you sorted it in the end .electrical problems can be a real fooker to sort !!

I once helped out another member on here , I even loaned him my spare ecu to eliminate his !! he obviously never sorted the problem as hes not been on here since !!!

its a bit of a bummer when you never hear of a resolution to a problem and I think I speak for all on the forum .

so well done dude . roll on the better weather :wheelie
