Bought myself a problem on 2 wheels

It's an easy job sheep,
I removed the tank, which isn't to bad a job, release the fuel hoses, the pumps mounted on a flange set up and just withdraws from the tank when unbolted.

There's a bit of fuel hose inside the tank which is convoluted, mine had split ,
Fuel was being pumped to the injectors but not under enough pressure.
There's a fuel filter in there too.

well I've just seen the price of a new pump so I'm really hoping its just a blocked filter:wow

Thanks for digging that out, its an interesting read. Mine has never failed to start from cold, it seems to cut out after about 30 miles or so and at varying speeds, and once its done it once, it gets more frequent, but when I get the time to whip the tank off I'll have a good look at the wiring. :thumbup
Oh and I don't think I've had any error codes? do they show on the dash, or do I need to go into the menu to find them?

I removed the fuel pump as it wasn`t working .. Cleaned it and checked wiring .............all ok ???

Intermitant working and then working all the time (fuel pump) . Anyway put everything back and it`s running OK .
Took it for MOT ,passed and a quick blast home and then away for the night
Out of the shed the day after ready to go and wouldn`t start , do it all again.
I changed the pumps with my other "T" and all is OK.

I have got new wiring for the faulty pump and seems OK as well but due to colour change and I have one to ride anyway I still need to finish "T" 2

So a little update, I bottled it with messing with the fuel pump myself, and took it to my nearest Aprilia dealer (SP motorcycles in Exeter)
They rang me this morning, the pump is fooked, when it gets too hot that's when it stops pumping. The bad news is a new pump is £430 plus vat.
The good news is there's a bosch pump for a car system which is a direct swap and its £90 plus vat.
Now I'm not one to shout about dealers very often, but they could have quite easily screwed me over with the official part, so I'm pretty pleased with them at the minute ( although I haven't had the labour cost yet)

Hopefully it will be done Wednesday so I'll give it a good thrashing and report back:thumbup

Good news the problem has been identified and for the price for the car derived pump. Might be a good shout if you can find out the part number or model(s) of car that fits.for others that may need a help. :thumbup

Yeah I was thinking that, I'll try and find out when I pick the bike up :thumbup

good call there :thumbup

FFS you couldn't make this **** up, picked the bike up from the dealer this morning, filled it with fuel, and took it for a blast did 40 miles (which is the furthest its gone) and the ****** gives me a service warning on the dash and the service light comes on and it dies on me
Gave it a couple of minutes, and switched it back on and there's not enough juice to turn it over (checked on the dash and its showing 11.2 volts).
So I'm now guessing that's pretty much going to be a shagged stator. going to charge the battery overnight and try to start it tomorrow and get some voltages with the multimeter.
On the bright side the new fuel pump seems to be doing its job ( I never got a service warning before when it played up, so I'm fairly confident thats fixed)
Anyway the part no for the pump is bosch 0580453408. if you google it the application list is huge, and the filter is showing as from a 999 Ducati.
I'm off for a lie down in a dark room, can't see me doing any more riding this year, going to have a rummage to see what I can sell to fix this ****.

Jesus man, if you didn't have bad luck you'd have no luck at all
Hope you get it sorted without having to sell the shirt of your back

Sorry to hear of yer continuing woes muttonman. :no

deepest comisserasions dude , stick at it . it will all come good . at least its not great riding weather to be off the road .
