Cracking service by Griff there!

Reckon I'll be making the trip up the M5/6 for my next service...... :thumbup

It's well worth it Gilo ... a friendlier and more knowledgable bunch you won't meet ... and if you cut across and go up the A429 to Warwick, and round from there to Tamworth, it's a good ride too ...

With the tireless help of Griff and Graham I've discovered some joy. There is now light at the end of the tunnel!

While moving wires around with the ignition switch on, where the wiring harness from the block connector with the white/yellow wire (LH side of throttle bodies, under tank) goes forward to the base of the ignition key cylinder, things started working! Fuel pump primes, engine cranks over, no disconnect symbol. I need to gently hold that wiring harness to the aft and things start working.

That harness goes into the base of the ignition key cylinder through a rubber grommet and is collared by a black plastic zip tie.

I'm including a picture that shows the area. The red tube points to the area where the wiring harness goes into the base of the ignition key cylinder on the LH side of the bike.

Now the big question is how to figure out how to gain access and fix what is either a bad connector or faulty wire, whatever is inside there.

If anyone has info on how to gain access to these wires, let me know.

I'm back!

I've been cruising around this site again and realized that I never posted about what my electrical issue was.

With mucho help from Griff (including a few long distance phone call from England to BC) the cause was finally located.

Once that damn wire in post #43 was repaired, I was back to chasing my electrical issue.

To recap:
A 2007 Tuono with 28,500 km on it, original owner.
A new stator (Rick's Performance Electrics) had gone in but there was no joy.
A new RR went in, on the belief that the faulty stator had taken it out.
Still no joy.
Talked with the supplier (seriously good, helpful people) and they suggested a 2nd RR.
No joy with the 2nd RR.
Took bike to local Aprilia dealer. Their words "We'll replace the stator, RR and battery for $1800 and see if that fixes the problem." It was the phrase "see if it fixes the problem" that made me see red. Brought the bike home and continued working on it.
Both the RR and stator sent to the supplier for testing.
Joy at last! The first stator was dead on arrival!
Everything buttoned back up and 1000 km of testing showed everything was tickety boo.

Bike went up for sale, then the ad pulled down 3 times. I just loved that bike.
Then I got a call from a guy and in a moment of weakness, sold the bike.

5 hrs after watching my baby disappear in the back of the new owners pickup, I had found and put a down payment on something completely different.
A New Old Stock red/white 2008 Tuono, zero miles, full 2 year warranty, 200 km from my house.
Delivery is next Wednesday. Woohooo!

Thanks again to Griff and Charley Tuono for their invaluable assistance. And if any of you people are coming to the beautiful west coast of Canada, phone ahead and I'll have a spot for you.

Bugger me sensless Sikorsky, if I had a bike that gave me that amount of trouble, it would have been burnt at the stake!!
And you've bought another to boot, well, at least its new and the right colour!

Hi y'all. Thats me doing my American accent for all you Canadians over there Sikorsky.
Might have to give you some abuse next time for saying hello to all you Bristish by putting on an English accent. Bear in mind the Scottish, Irish and Welsh accents as well. U'd have been better of sticking to saying British Accent.

Rant rant rant rant rant Over with now.:doh:bitchslapHi

How would you do a generic British accent., difficulty one to crack. I do love the die hard & other American movie stars efforts at doing a cockney, great innit dimond geeza.

or perhaps a cross between Belfast, Leeds, Scouse, Hastings throw in a bit of merthyr valley tidy like butt. Must get back to me rubba dub dub, drinking to be done.
