Well it is cold out but dry ish apart from the damp leaves and odd bit of salt thrown around but that wont stop me enjoying what ive been missing for 7 weeks :no .. when you own something this good it just has to be ridden cos you know nothing else will give you the grin factor thats very addictive :yes:yes:yes

Looking at my road yesterday I thought it was reasonably dry. Went out on the bike and hadn't got that far before the rain spots appeared on the visor. The roads were appalling! Really damp, wet leaves, greasy in appearance and when I found the odd dry spot it started raining again.

I managed 75 miles but didn't have much 'fun' riding in that time, just didn't trust the grip. I took the hint and headed home with a filthy bike......... which then got a pampering!! :love

I know what you mean, but a quick rinse down and buff up keeps the nasties at bay :thumbup... its just too tempting for me at the min not to go out and enjoy what ive missed out on and providing you dont give it big handfulls when leaning over too far its fine and the power slides are something else :devious with the wet slimey surfaces, keeps you on your toes :thumbup

Power slides! :scared They're a bit beyond my capabilities mate. I started that I'd be saying hello to the hedge! I've currently got Rennsports on my bike and everything I've read says they're dry tyres, just couldn't get that confident in them yesterday. When it's dry or there's the odd damp patch they're bloody marvellous but just wondered about them yesterday with how wet it was. What tyres are you using??

Pirelli diablo corsa`s , they came with the bike but they are fine in the damp conditions giving plenty of grip once they have warmed up , as for the power slides i dont make a habbit of doing them but its quite easy to contol once you get the hang of it but not recomending any such thing of course :devious

Corsa III's was what I had fitted to the Ducati, cracking tyre and I definitely had more confidence in them in the wet than I do these Rennsports. On the last set the front wore really strangely though. Having said that, when I took the RSVR out for it's demo ride I was powering round a lovely long left hander and the Rennsports felt absolutely planted, hence why I'm considering sticking with them. My initial thoughts were that I don't deliberatly ride when it's wet, but I CAN'T put the bike in the garage for the best part of 3 months and not ride it! So, wet weather riding has to be factored in and I think for peace of mind, read confidence, it's going to have to be Corsa III's or M3's next. Haven't read enough about the new Pirelli Rosso's yet to be happy enough to buy them.

I then bought the bike and on it being delivered I checked the tyre pressures and they were way down on what they should be so I'm considering lowering the pressures a bit before I go out on it again. Currently running 32f/36r with a 190/50. Considering dropping both by 2psi to get a bit more heat.

While road tyres don't get 'that' much heat in them normally the Rennsports and 'nicely' warm when I get home. They were damn near cold yesterday!

Ran michelin on the zed 12 last year and gave good grip all weathers, some swear by bridgestones but it all depends on the bike and how it handles but to tell the truth ive had many tyre makes and the michelin gave the most feed back. Im yet to see what the pirelli`s are like in the warm weather so cant comment on that but like i said they do warm up nice even on colder days :thumbup

Metzeler sportec M'3s, Pirelli diablo corsa III's and michelin pilot power 2CT'S are the way ahead any of them 3 will be good all round tyre fantastic grip when its dry and good in the wet they also heat up quick I've on my 2nd set of M3's and no complant at all when these are done I'll be trying the corsa III's as I've never used them so I'll give them a bash. But as been said before it's all down to what suits you.....

I found the michelin pilots a very good tyre, had them on my last 2 bikes with neh problems, good in the wet and dry and very sticky :thumbup

my next ones will be pilot powers :thumbup
Now I've got Dunlop Sportmax D220 (I think, it's an earlier version so I'm not 100% sure which type it is). They also came with the bike..
I'm not sure about what I think of them though.. I've done quite a few rides in the rain the past week, and they feel kind of slippery to me, I don't quite trust them.. :confused But then again, the conditions have been far from ideal to "test" them properly.

Pumkin I had Dunplop Sportmax (208's) on my CBR and they were very twitchy :scared..changed to Michelin 2ct's and they were great, very confidence inspiring :thumbup

My Mille came with 208's which I cant afford to replace at the moment (especially after getting an Akrapovic can) so will just take it easy with them on over the winter months and change them in the Summer. I just dont trust Dunlops, I've had them on a VFR and the CBR with the same effects :scared

Hmm.. that confirms what I feared :confused
I'm doing the same: careful in the winter months and hang on until I can afford a change of rubber :thumbup One thing 's for sure though, I'm NOT taking those Dunlops on the track ! :scared

Diablo Corsa's are the dogs whotsits, they give more confidence than any tyre I've used before, Metzeller/Bridgestone/poundshop(!) Unfortunately, they don't last long....my back tyre is so shagged it skips out on a single leaf...oh well the expense will be worth it!!!!

NewBoots, what mileage are you getting from the Corsa III's? I used to get 3.5K - 4k on the 748 rear.

Give me a few more months and I'll let you know...the rear was a bit on the knackered side when I got the bike...obviously been on a track day; absolutely ripped to fukc on the edges. Since then I've done about 1.5 k miles, so I would guess at about 3k miles on a rear....mind you it depends upon how you ride it.....but hey that's sports bike tyres for you...thank kerrist my band work pays for such expenses!!!!:devious

I wondered what the RSVR would be like on rear tyres when I bought it. There's an awful lot of power being transfered to the road via that rear tyre :devious
