Hi all,

Has anyone found a decent replacement for the ornaments that pass for wing mirrors on the Gen 2 RSV? It looks like gsxr k8 mirrors will not right on and they have longer arms.

Cheers
Ian

I've used the mirrors/indicators from a '08-'14 Honda Fireblade. I did need to make some tapered spacer to go underneath the mirrors to stop them "drooping" down. The bolt centres are very close, I just used a rat-tail file to alter the holes. The original bulbs for the Honda are 21W but the 10W bulbs from the RSV are a straight swap. The improvement on the rear view is excellent.

Thanks, I think this are similar to the gsx mirrors I looked at. How did you make your spacers? I suppose a block of polythene and a file and quite a few hours would work.

Yes, I did consider using the GSX-R mirrors, they would have worked, the extra width was almost exactly the same but I thought that the Fireblade mirrors looked better. Polythene would work perfectly well but I machined them out of aluminium.
If you're a member of the Aprilia Performance group on Facebook or if you don't mind me having your e-mail address, I could send you some pics.

Thanks both of you, I did find those zx10r mirrors listed on flea bay UK so I've ordered them. Thanks Tom also for your tip re the rear brake. Regards Ian

I've fitted the mirrors and the rear view is revolutionary. What did you use for connectors, the ones on the mirrors bring totally different to the loom? I've ordered some waterproof 2 way connectors and intend to chop the existing off, but if you know where I can get away way female to match the make on the loom that would be even better.

Sorry i just made an small extension wires to connect to the mirrors , i just cut the mirror wires and linked the wires. ( i forgot about that it was about 6 years ago i did this lol) going senile:dunno

Thanks, where did you find the connectors do you remember? I can't find any that will fit the loom!

Ah thanks, I don't have a spare loom so I'll have to stick with replacing the connectors, keeping spares in case whoever has this bike after me wants to refit the originals.

Btw there are those who opine that if you need mirrors you're not going fast enough. I disagree. With these zx10r mirrors it's a revolution, is I can actually see behind me! I was concerned about vibration causing blurring but that didn't seem to be an issue either when I took it out for a short test.
