Ok lets clear some things up here as I read on another post Pikey and one or two others saying "they're glad they didn't go cos of the dangerous overtakes", "its why I prefer riding by myself" etc.
In my opinion everyone rode well within their comfort margins. There was some quick riding but not dangerous in parts (not all the time) and others if they didn't want to follow kept at their own pace. The quicker ones stopped and waited for the ones who decided not to go as quick which provided a bit of time for some chat (not for too long though). The only time the wait was for a little while was when 4 got caught at some traffic lights.
It was a good safe ride and it means for me I can put some faces to names on here. Zippy (even though he took a pic of my wonderful shirt, you're not forgiven for taking the pi$$ outta that either. We'll have a little chat next time) even though he's a relatively new member and doesn't post as much as others has made the effort to turn up to each ride out, the 1st one just after he'd joined and good on him for making the effort.
I mentioned a dodgy overtake on my part as I'm usually ultra cautious on overtakes and won't overtake unless I can see well ahead of me. The guy in the car didn't flash me or owt but I was just in the wrong gear. For me that was dodgy but in no way dangerous. Doesn't mean I'm slow or anything just like to ride well within my capabilities and won't be pushed to try and catch up with anyone. Stix has been out with me often enough to know that if I overtake I'll slow for others behind to catch up if they can't overtake at the same time as me if I'm at the front. I'm not out to prove anything to anyone (chicken strips or not; other thread brought in on this post
) and thats how I ride and how I've seen others ride off this forum I've been out with. In fact we even stopped to admire the view and have a chat it was that kinda day. Mostly I stuck to about 70 to mid 70's for fear of losing my licence.
I'd feel comfrotable riding with anyone who went out on the 10th ride out again and if I didn't I wouldn't ride with them again. I must say that if Newelly (Pete) did ever turn up in his camo trousers though I would refuse to ride with him on that day although I'm glad to say he's a convert and a good mucker. PS Newelly if you're reading this can I come fire one of your rifles one day?
All in all I had an awesome day (even when it rained slightly), found it funny when we pulled into some posh restaurant fully clad in leathers and then just turned round on our heels and walked back to our bikes when we saw how posh it was, pulled into someones front garden to park up 8 bikes and go into the dogiest pub in England with San Miguel which tasted of gone off milk and didn't serve food.
Just wanted to clear a few things up.
With reference to the black Hyundai driver which others have mentioned he was a ****. When I was behind him on the Chapel Road for some time before I overtook he kept checking in his rear mirror, side mirrors etc trying to out accelerate me on straights and just basically make it difficult to overtake. I'm not surprised he tried to make it difficult for others to overtake. Can't comment on what happened as I didn't see it and I can only comment on how he was driving when I was behind him and I was observing his actions.
End of long post!!!!!
