as anyone done any alterations to there side stand on the rsv millie as i dont trust mine at all, cheers john.

Bubseywoo does a modified sidestand, think you can but them off him on Ebay too.

Or do what I do and drive around for ten mins finding a nice spot to park :D

Just take a piece of round 20mm plywood with and put it under the stand does the same job.

When mine was on the side stand i could push it with one finger and lift the back wheel it leant over so far, so i welded a bit of 1cm plate on the foot of the side stand - sorted. :pirate

Another option

try get hold of a usa spec stand & bracket

Well worth the change

I would recommend the Bubsywoo stand, the yanks are aware of our stand issue and were charging a premium when I was searching about random shops/forums :(

Hey guys thanks 4 the tips , i think I will try welding a 1cm plate. Cheers:devious

I would recommend the Bubsywoo stand :(

I had exactly the same thoughts a couple of weeks ago when I got my mille,I could have made it work but decided to cut out the hassle and buy one of Gary's.

Best thing I did, it now has a better stand than my Sv

( I will admit to grinding the stop back a couple of mill tho' it now tucks in almost flush to the belly pan when up)

Go with the Bussywoo , save yourself the aggravation & stress of re-inventing the wheel.

Anyone know where on ebay i might find these? Done a search and nothing showed, only the crappy originals!

Ive Pm'ed bubsywoo but looks like he hasnt been on here for a while, says he last logged on 23-3-09

thanks in advance :thumbup

Here you go mate.

E-bay item number: 150338354444

Ive got one ,and its been fine and much better :thumbup

I fitted a Bubbsywoo stand a few weeks ago cos the rod that you use to push it down with your foot fell off the origional, and it was loose as feck as well - never trusted it. Had to take a file to the inner faces of the top mount onto the bracket, but really only removing the powder coating - but solid as a rock now.

Would i **** buy a side stand and have the seller laughing all the way to the bank.
Its something so trivial.
Why not just get it took off and and get it extended.
I couldnt be bothered pissing about unnecessarily so i cut a bit of 1cm thick plate the same size as the foot on the side stand and welded it on - job done.
It cost me very little and took about 15 mins and looks far better than my bike lying on its ******* side :pirate

The Bubbsywoo version has a more acute angle of dangle on the mounting bracket so sticks out further and is longer, giving it a wider footprint - so more stability.

If the weld dont break like the early ones........Customer service is ***** to, i bought an early type, WAS TOLD he would send a new type to me, Loads of emails later i get NOTHING so am stuck with a ***** early type thats good for **** all ....... £40 worth of junk metal sitting in the tool box, Guys a ****

I rang him and he said he'd email me with details ....No email ..

EBay offer has ended .. :confused

Sorry to hear that,I will of course monitor the situation.

However, given the inherent benefits of the design ,should the worst happen I'm capable of getting it sorted :thumbup

Just wasn't worth the hassle of starting from scratch that's all.

I think there are quite a few well satisified customers out there who would take issue with your general sentiment however.

I hope you can get it sorted to your satisfaction eventually, if not you could always get your local welding specialist to strengthen it surely?
