The Official "I HATE APRILIA......"

I'm wondering about this now and am questioning the advice we have provided you so far. I wonder if you may have tight valve clearances and this is causing you a slight loss of power.

Do you know when they were last checked and by whom?

Again, because I can't actually physically get my hands on the bike this is all best guess work. Your not far from Griff (Tamworth) take a trip up to see him and let him have a look over the bike, trust me when I say it will be worth it. :thumbup

Hark, is that an echo I hear ?? :devious:devious

Lost in translation mate, was on the beer last night and my brains a little tender. :devious

Try that chip and see how it goes but I suspect that if it is as you say down on power everywhere in the range you will have to get it to Griff for a looky.

I am a little picky with my bikes and trust no ones word especially where my valve clearances are concerned. Get them checked again just to make sure, tight valves can cause you major problems mate.

(Takes around 60 minutes or slightly less to check the valves, if they need adjusting then get them done over at Griffs place or at a dealer that Griff can recommend).

You're bang on with this mate, it does make a noticeable difference! I recently went from a 180/55 to 190/55 and the gearing was taller so I went to 16/44 gearing to counteract it (and some!)

I guess it comes down the pay off. Having spent a fair amount of time on a ZX12with 180 and 190 sections, the effect on gearing was minimal when changing from one to the other. The effect on handling wasn't. My gut feeling is to for the one which improves the handling and then sort out the gearing.

Of course, if you're that serious about track riding the gearing will need altering for different tracks.........for most people however its all about the best compromise. All set ups are always a compromise.

Not YET....... Just bought another one though so probably will be, that or just have some real tight months and track one of em next year :devious now that sounds tempting! Although given my financial woes unlikely
Should get it next weekend so will find out about the power. This one is completely standard and the later model.
