Just to confirm the post that said Saturday 18th March ride out has now been altered to Sunday 27th of March. Hopefully same people will still be able to make it. Aka_Gilo to lead the ride out from Abergavenny in his new Fireshark helmet cos if anyone gets lost we can just follow the Flames.

why would anyone mind?

or am i missing something here ?

No Garry, you have not missed anything.

As far as I'm concerned the more the merrier.

I asked out of respect for him and for the members who are setting out on this great venture.

He's still on L's and desperate to "move up" to a larger bike.

His 125 (bought off e-bay) has syphoned humongous amounts of money out of his (dads) coffers and must be the most unreliable nail ever to turn a wheel.

His dream bike is an R6

I am trying to convince him that something like an SV650 would be a better bet ... but hey, it's his life and his dads money.

I've given him a go on my T in an industrial estate while I had a spin round on his steed and I'm not sure which of us was the most scared!

****** brave man ye are N min.. all ma cubs (3 o them wi 2 oan the road) can ride but ah wid nivir let them loose oan ma T ever.....the consequences dinna bare thinkin aboot!

His first run ... of 500 yards away from me along a straight road in 1st had me clenching my arse cheeks and biting my nails to the quick

His return, lurching, throttle / brake / thottle / brake run ... in second and with the front wheel alternating between full compression and clear of the ground ... well, I soiled myself quite badly.

After a few runs we were both fine; ashen, but fine.

As Garry said, why would anyone mind? There's few enough young'uns getting into biking these days, got to encourage the ones that are showing an interest.

My view on group ride-outs is this: the fast boys ride fast, the others ride at the pace that suits them. We all know the consequences of riding too far out of your comfort zone, and it ain't pretty.

At the start we explain the route - and the one Bay has in mind (if it's the one I'm thinking of) is pretty easy to follow, and also share where we will stop to regroup (junctions or convenient laybys). No shame in being last on the road, no suicidal overtakes to keep with the pack etc. Doesn't matter how long the fast boys have to wait at each catch-up, we don't crack on until everyone is there.

We all ride at our own pace, we all enjoy the road, and when we stop we all share the craic. Simples.

Uncle Gilo

I will have my 13 year old daughter on the pillion and we're both REALLY looking forward to it.

I've only ever been on 1 x "proper group ride out" before ... a charity run from Telford to Wales. It was ok I suppose ... but nobody really spoke. 30 x bikes got to somewehere, riders talked to their pillions. Riders nodded to other riders. Everbody ate dodgy fish and chips :eatcorn... then we all rode back.

Going fast on the 27th will be the last thing on my mind it's putting faeces to some of you fuds is what I'm looking forward to most!:devious

OH! And the dodgy fish and chips

I think I did 2 dodgy overtakes when i went out with Giles Sunday for a quick spin buri was feeling brave after that 70 yr old in a freelander pulled out in front of me when was doing 70. What did you think of that gilo. Forgot to ask u when we were having a villa after

Oh and no worry about your mates lad at all. Only thing thats not allowed is camouflage trousers ;)

Trouble is he'd have puilled out no matter what spped we'd been going. Good job due to your back tyre we were keeping it relatively sane.

Only total fudge packers and chutney miners wear camo keks

Oh!

Unless its a de rigeur urban camo pattern woven with high tech kevlar and with CE approved armour.

They are v comfy

They are well warm

They are water proof

The armour (velcroed) is prolly worth feck all

But Hey! I like them!!!

They're still banned ;)
No matter what excuse u come back with. Unless you're SAS and work in Brecon or Hereford def banned. N if you're in the SAS then get out to Iran lol
We need cheaper oil for the petrol rpices to come down so we can run our Tuonos

then i guess I am fookered

Don't talk to me about a set of FT leathers that need to go back

AND WHERE THE **** HAS PIKEY GONE SINCE I CALLED HIS *** OUT FOR A RIDE??????

****** Bacardi (who's having a snifter)

Gonna find me a small bloke, put on my urban camo and KICK SOME ***!

I'm now a little pi$$ed as can't make this anyomore. My dad popped over last night & whilst chewing the fat I mentioned he should dust off his kit ready for this shindig to which he replies neither he nore I can do due to a surprise birthday weekend away he has planned for my brother, so I'm afraid to say, I'm out. Maybe next time, sorry all :thumbup

To make things worse, I've just seen the planned date for the big forum get together elsewhere & falls on a date for my best man duties :bawling

Just bumping this thread in case any forum newbs ('kin stupid Yank word...) havn't seen it and are interested.

A guy I used to work with got wind of this and wanted to know if his Ducati 1198S would be acceptable. I said I reckon we'd allow it :thumbup
