Started having a weird issue just recently that I've never experienced before.

When closing the throttle full in 3rd gear at around 85kph or 4k rpm the bike is very jerky or stuttery. The bike lurches forwards while decelerating until the rpms drop low enough and then it goes away and decelerates normally. It feels like there is backlash in the chain. So I stopped and checked the chain and it was quite loose. I've recently (Monday 18th Feb) replaced the chain and sprockets and the issue is still there.

This ONLY happens in 3rd gear at that rpm. Doesn't happen in any other gears or at any other speed.

I have also flashed my mapping back to stock from the race map and the issue is still there. I did this as I thought it might be a fuelling issue.

Here is a video I made with what is happening.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Dark Rider

How old is the bike is it ARPC? if it is did you do a calibration when you replaced the tyres(they look fairly new)?
I would also switch TC,AWC, and abs off to see if this improves it

Hi,

Its a 2011 with APRC. I did calibration after changing the tyres and after changing the chain and sprockets. It happens in all modes and all settings on or off.

Ended up replacing the entire gearbox with one from a 2103 RSV4. Bike runs sweet now. Expensive exercise.

sounds like you had damage on the 3rd gear ring , as it was only an issue with 3rd gear over run .

well sorted .:thumbup
