I had a spare sidestand from my previous bike. A Honda VFR800 VTEC, so after reading about the common mod being for a fireblade or possibly blackbird sidestand i thought id give the vfr800 one a go.
It cost me £12 off ebay.
Here is the stand with its only mod, i drilled and tapped a 6mm hole and loctited a 6mm bolt on the opposite side to the honda spring hook

The springs sit on the opposite side of the stand on the aprilia to the honda, and the stand bolts on fine but the bolt etc have to be put in from the back not the front.
Also the small 6mm bolt and rubber grommet that normally bolt into the top of the stand bolt, cant fit on the back with the vfr800 stand as the springs foul on it.
Here it is on the bike:

Im not sure if that rubber grommet bit is something to do with the side stand switch but the bike now starts and rides with the stand down so i'll have to just make sure i put it up

Is there a sidestand switch there?I would have thought it would be dangling on the wires when you removed the old switch.

I suspect it has already been removed by a previous owner cause there are no wires there at all

Nice project, however, there is no way I'd want to ride without the cut out switch.
It's an accident waiting to happen.
You can pick up stands that will do the job (switch included) for about £30.
A genuine Aprilia one will cost iro £60? but it's a better fix.
