is is just me or are the side stands on rsv's pretty pants, parked mine with a little bit of wind bike was rocking thought it was gonna fall over, so had to put it inside out of the elements :)
is there a way of improving the side stand ???

cheers

2004-2007 honda fireblade cbr 1000rr stand fits the aprilia bracket. works a treat.

Unfortunately, yes, the side stand is widely acknowledged as being a bit dodgy. The bike sits too upright and the stand is too far in. The good news is there is an alternative. I think it's from 2004 fireblade but if you do a forum search, you should be able to find out for definite as there are several threads on the subject.

edit, beaten to it :)

The best mod IMHO is the USA sidestand. Law requires it to be more stable and let me tell you it is.

I have recently bought two USA stand and they are on the way to me. One is a spare so if you are interested.... Drop me a PM

make sure you got the bracket to go with them, cos thats different on the usa version to.

too upright? Mine leans over too far!

Ditto. I'm always worried it's gona fall over on the stand side. Dare not park it side on on a slight down slope, which unfortunately is what my driveway does:-(

Will have to bite the bullet and invest/risk £15 on ebay.

hmmm well seams like aprilia couldn't make there minds up and just dished out any old crap for the stand then, but rang up local honda bike shop wanted 80 quid !!! for stand off cbr1000rr so am looking to remove the stand cut a bit out and re-weld anyone done this ? ?

Earlier bikes had a long stand that kept the bike too upright but about 04 ish they used a much shorter stand which went to the other extreme.

Aprilia claim the difference between USA and rest of world stand wise is due to the different parking nature of america where they rarely park on hills apparantly.:dunno

Wasn't it discovered recently on here that a Cbr stand is a direct replacment and solves the problem

thats what i bought... CBR 1000RR 04 stand... 50 times better than the 02 original... but if you cut a further 1cm off the CBR stand... then its 100 times better !! :thumbup

I fitted my USA stand yesterday and as with the Falco, the bike is transformed into a very stable park&forget bike!

Look at the differrence!

Here you can see the difference in the bracket thickness.

My bike stands too upright the stand you show would make it stand more upright? confused. I thought the idea was to shorten the stand a fraction and allow bike to lean just that little bit further than near upright? Has any body just cut a small amount off the standard stand and what if you have were the results. regards Ken.:confused

The US stand is longer because it is angled more outward.
So the difference is in the stand (longer and thicker) and in the bracket (thicker and bigger angle).

One of the problems with the EU stand is that it touches the ground too close to the bikes centre line.

Can you post a link to the USA stand??? Are there any issues with the electrics?

I have a gsxr1000 k2 modded on mine

worked a treat and cost nothing as I already has the gixxer stand

Sorry if this has been gone over before but will a CBR600RR 08 sidestand leg bolt straight on to the existing bracket??
