alright lads im defo on the look out now for a torque wench, will have a look in Halfords at the weekend

Chocolate tools "quality Quote"

I think once some one has shown me then ill be sound to do it myself the only real worry is chain tension and making sure its straight once thats in the bag im onto a winner!

had my torque wrench for 2 yrs now and not a problem with it, superb buy, but i know what you mean, you take a risk going cheap and sometimes it has bitten me in the butt

Agreed with Colin above..correct methods applied using right tool for the job = a professional outcome... that keeps yer mind at ease and yer butt out of the gutter. Once you have seen it done, you will be on spec. But be choosy who you first watch do it, so you have good correct intel. :thumbup

sorry meant UN....:devious:devious

As above, Halfords stuff is good stuff, local motor factors are the place to be, cheaper than halfords but same quality, we sell ours for about £25 up, but get the best you can as it matters :thumbup

Cheap torque wrench....:puke
IMO u r wastin your money and risking it....paying a bit more for mid range (hate to say it but halfrauds professional stuff is pretty good....not too pricey either) would be wiser...remember it's your neck you are risking.....you prob spent lots on the bike and leathers etc so why get 'chocolate' tools...doesn't make sense...:confused

GENIUS

I used a cheap one for a while but it went out of adjustment and had to buy a new rear caliper bracket as it stripped the thread .i now use halfords pro stuff i have a low range for 10/60nm and a bigger one for 40/200nm not cheap at £100 for the pair but the use they get it is money well spent.stuck with a good brand:thumbup

just be careful with tha video as to chain adjustment, if you tighten to set adjustemtn on one side only, when you adjust the other side to match, it will tighten it some more.
best to do one full turn on each side together. then check! then tighten main axle bolt, to help with this put a wrench on the chain and roll the back wheel forwards so the wrench catches in the rear sprocket push slightly, thi will help pull the wheel against the chain adjusters

then tighten axle bolt to torque setting
then lock chain adjuster with locking nuts

good luck

I think he also forgot to say WATCH YOUR FINGERS.
I know a lad who decided to clean his chain by putting his bike on a paddock stand and starting the bike up. He then put it in first gear and let it run on tickover whilst holding a rag on the chain :dowhat
Chain didn't stay clean for long and ended up red with blood and he lost 3 fingers :pirate

fook me,not to bright then?
poor bugger,he wont forget that lesson mate!
imagine seeing your own fingers on ya garage floor ffs.
