I`v never even thought to check this, infact I dont think I can even picture the area mentioned...

What are the symptoms suggesting attention needed? And what mileage have your bikes done? (just wondering how many miles in general until these need checking)
Mines done 14k

Steve, at 14k I'd deffo check em as I bet they aint been touched. Its the linkage at the bottom of the shock. Just type in rsvr shock linkage into ebay and it'll show you a few!!!

Ah right, cheers cowelly
I follow where the needle bearings etc are now. Good idea on the ebay thing ;)

When you say check em? would you say it actually needs stripping down? I mean its not squeaking or anything seems sound...
Or would a bit of wd40 on all the joints be sufficent?? :devious

Best thing to do mate is order the bearings before you take them out as the needles will likely fall out and you will have a major cursing session trying to find them all and put them back in.

It is possible you might find they are in reasonable order and just need repacking with grease.

Very important part of the suspension, if the bearings are sticky/creaky it will affect the smooth operation of the movement.

At 14k they may have been done, if not they need looked at, and dont use wd40 as it will wash the grease out if there is any in there:thumbup

23h08 managed to knock out the old bearing casings, cleaned up the dogbone all looking good for new bearings and seals. removed all the rust/road grit/general cr*p with smooth wet/dry sand paper and plenty WD40 ..looks new again under there :) just missed the local bearing shop by 1 min..he had 5 in stock and all seals.. price of £2.35 each bearing (aprilia £10.10 each 5 days del) seals £1.89 (aprilia £7 something each next working day del) bolloc*s I want to ride this weekend..I will find all the bearings and seals Tomorrow come hell or high water..its my 40th Birthday Tomorrow I need this ride :)

Thanks badger, I`ll leave the WD40 alone ;)

Reckon I`ll leave this until the weather turns ****, then perhaps investigate, its not creaky or anything and I know for a fact the last guy had the swing removed and re-polished, perhaps it was done then...

Dont want it stripped down during our indian summer :D

Quick update, all fixed..managed to get the bearings and seals today..though i did have to use 2 x 16mm width bearings instead of 12mm as they didnt have stock..but they went in with no problems and the seals fit perfect, packed with grease ..polished the bike and ready for a run tomoz..good times :)

I use Bellray Waterproof grease & plenty of it on all the Milles I service as well as my own of course

Hi, I'm a new owner of a Gen2 factory and about to have a look at the bearings. I have a kit but does anyone have a link to a photo 'how two' guide ?

Ta.
