quick action throttle

mates done the quick action throttle mod and used plastic pipe , he is having a prob with the return side of the throttle .with the return cable not connected it is fine if it is connected the twistgrip will not snap back it tries but is very stiff we have removed the rubber from the inside of the housing on the return cable but still the same any ideas does he have to back off the tb cables first :dunno

Has he taken the little rubber seal off on the return cable in the throttle run ,that needs to be removed ,If not that the new plastic piece needs sanding more.

I used plastic pipe and it works tip top.
 
keep sanding it you will get it in the end i took a bit off the brass fiting as mine was rubing on it:thumbup
 
Took my return cable off a while back and the action has never been so good ,smooth and quicker to return to the shut poistion.

Its me who's trying to do it lads, how do I take the return cable off :dunno Is the return cable the one on the left :dunno
 
Just a thought here but what are you gonna do if your butterflies come loose and jam in the fully open position?

It can happen and the chances are your engine will go pop.

Sorry to bring doom and gloom to a thread but that return cable is there for a good reason, it's called safety.

Was just about to say that......what is the point of this mod as well :confused
 
it makes the dia of the throttle tube bigger so it moves more cable .so if the standard throttle was say 5/8 ths from closed to full with the mod it makes it less so closed to full is not so much of a turn gets you on the throttle quicker

he has took the rubber off the return cable
 
dont talk to me about sanding been doing the spindles all day just finished still got some to do tomorrow .took till 10 last night doing the radiator mains stopcock started leaking then the only solder joint i did started leaking cut my finger open on the copper pipe bloody diy

chillin watchin telly all done now though i did have to cut your spiritlevel in half as it was still too long , could have cut mine but did not want to ruin it:thumbup

got to the bit where they leave the boat in the helicopter and the cable froze on all channels so will have to wait for it again
 
Been busy today chap er in doors has got me redoing the bathroom, oh joy working at home.
 
tell me about it all work no pay just the promise of payment in kind cup of tea that is
any way you could do it while she is at work make a mess in the bathroom to show how busy you have been
