Optional Gel Seat

Hey does anyone have any experience with the optional gel seat? Even if you don't own one - have you sat on one and can you give impressions compared to stock seat? I'm just back from a 10 day tour and I think I'm finding the seat too soft (some mags have criticized this too) because my butt got sore way faster than my last bike (Multistrada). I'm thinking of going for the optional one but would like to know if it's firmer.

I've had the gel one for a couple of 3 day tours now, and it isn't a great deal 'firmer' (still sink in), but it's certainty more comfortable for a longer peroid in the saddle than the standard seat. It's all about allowing blood flow - not creating areas of 'stuck' blood - that's why gel (and sheepskin) are materials of choice for those stuck in wheelchairs.
I'm pleased with the update, and only $200 here in Australia; heaps cheaper than an after-market one (?).

Thanks Clif - I just had one installed to try out. It does seem firmer to me & I think it will be more comfortable. Now the only thing I'm not sure about - and everyone considering should be aware of - is that this seat is noticeably lower. I have long legs so I'm certainly not looking to bend my legs more!
