Ohlins trouble

Some people put yamaha seals in and it solves the problem :)

I believe until recently OEM fitted Ohlins were made by Yam anyway, not true Ohlins Ohlins ( if you see what I mean)

I think I'm right in saying ( and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm not) that Ken Ohlins has bought the company back from Yamaha and it is now an independent suspension company again.

Perhaps the quality control he was famed for will now return?

I dont know about that, but I do know that OEM ohlins is not as good as aftermarket ohlins. But still better then most riders :D (like me)

Thanks for all feedback guys. I was quoted £150-200 depending on the type of forkoil used, from my local Aprilia dealer today. I'd be tempted to have a go myself if it wasn't for the special tool required to remove the top cap.

Harris are a shower, I'll not use them again - they are the most unhelpful bunch I've dealt with - unless its aftermarket R&T ohlins kit they're not interested - I tried to get the left fork foot and they basically told me to feck orf cos they're not interested in the kit supplied on the manufacturer bikes (effectively standard kit not race). When I asked who could help me they just said dunno, bye.

I'm assuming the Gixser seals are a doubble seal type and not the single like the ohlins - does that cause any issue's with excessive wear on the TiNi coating on the forks? I'm pretty sure the Yam SP ones probably wouldn't be a prob being that they are also Ohlins kit.

Corkie - you should have a chat with K-tech suspension - they were very helpful and sort out guys in BSB so know thier stuff. They're also not as dear as you would think
