Ok I know its a little time before the spring / summer rides but thinking of new tyres for the T now. I was going to get Dunlop Roadsmarts but looked at the nearest tyre place to me which are offering Avon Storm 2 Ultra for £210 fitted balanced and inc VAT for front and rear. They aren't offering Dunlops and the place is only 10-15 misn ride away from my house.

Had a set of Avon Storms on my BMW pre the Tuono and felt they had good grip and never gave me any problems.

Won't be doing any track days with them just rapid road riding.

Thoughts genlemen and **** (Evlin).

I thang you.

Just wondering what peoples ideas are on these

Never tried Bridgestones myself. Had Metzlers, Avons and the ones I have on the T at the mo but not sure what they are. How bad of me is that? I know the ones I have on now are a track tyre and had a few slides on them on the road (damp, bit of grit etc). Best check what I have on at the mo. They've not lasted long mind.

I have metzler rensports on at the mo so would be inclined to get the same . I believe they have stopped making these but I will get the replacement

Sorry,I cant help with the Avons,....I had some nasty moments with them in the late '70's and have'nt touched them since.:eek
I think they have come on a bit from the old Roadrunners!:lol:rolleyes
A mate of mine swears by the Avon Azaro's on his Doocardee,....and he dont hang around,so I guess the Storms will be fine.

Bridgestone BT 23's on mine.... perfect for me, road use only. no idea what they are like on the track, but ron haslem race school use em on their bikes, so cant be that bad....

Best advice i think when choosin tyres is to be honest with yourself..... unless you ride at the max all the time, then i dont think balls out sport / track tyres will get up to optimum temp (or stay there) on the road & may not give max grip when you need it.

Hence sport / tourers for me !

:)

well as you asked mr bay....i have been using michelin pilot powers 2cts or even the sports tourer on my 1050 pilot road 2s...both are pretty good tourer lasts forever seems ok in wet! lasts prolly 5thousand miles maybe more!! pilot powers which i think are power pures now doh are bit stickier last pretty well too...but i hardley find the limits on a tyre so im not much use really lol but i do like a good tread pattern...and michelins look nice lol dont like avons tread pattern look horrid never used them . is that enough tyre thread ramblings for you

Evlin I like your honesty and no chainsaw diagrams on thsi thread but it would take a woman to say I don't like the tread pattern. I quite like the tread pattern on the Avons to be honest though and don't like them on the Mitchelin. Tales all sorts doesn't it.

PS Just for Gilo. Mines a Gen 1 Tuono Racing don't ya know.

i like the new dunlop tread pattern too lol the stickyier tyre! funny i think half of this tyre thing is in the heed....but when i got prilly it had pirellis on it brand new dragon corsa 10000000 or some thing....i didnt like them, in my head i bet lol, got michelins on straight away felt better then!!! as i do loads of miles longevity is a must ...but prilly deserves stickier tyre not gunna put sport tourers on on lol see thats just vanity doh

I liked the Avon Storms I had on the big beamer before I got this bike. Gave good confidence and really gave me the confidence to get it over. I might give them a go on "Potato" this time though just as its easy to get them fitted close to where I live.

bay...some of the triumph lot really rate them avon storms....but they are old sods lol:lol

I never had any problems with them Evlin and tyres have come on so much nowadays that you really have to push them for them to give unless you hit some wet or gravel.

yep....people talk bollox half the time like most will notice on roads any how, bloke i know is allways turning his suspesion like a hairs breath this way then that...oooh i really can tell ...yeah on a pot holey road my arse lol

I'd love to know how to adjust all the settings on my suspension. Might have to invest in a suspension setup somewhere.

Bay the Avon Storm 2 Ultra get good write ups, excellent grip and last well too. I had thought of them but put the diablo corsa 111's on as my local dealer was was selling them cheap, and would have had to wait for the Ultras.
