Fit it, it wont change the gearing that dramatically that it will become an unridable bronco that struggles. but you may just like its pleasant nature around town. i think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Will be changing front also, but have lad on most of the time, and it is a pain to set off with him on as front lifts really easy as it is..Town is fine already, must have just got used to it.

Hey Guys,
Just rode mine back from bikersworld worcester (dyno) what a different bike 15 tooth front what a smoother ride also dyno registers at 130bhp at 100% throttle I'm told better than most ,let rip up M5 whilst possible and 130mph before I realised I was a little over legal . Thanks to Ash and the guys and also for the advise on a possible bent rod on my damper(pre my purchase)hopefully sort the weave prob out.:doug

You will need to fit a 17 front to get back to approx. standard, why not try it with the 16/42 and see how it goes, you will find it easier to ride slower if you know what i mean:thumbup

Hi
Booked it into 'Jordan Bikes' in Leeds to have them fitted wed..They said the 42 rear and standard front wouldn't make much difference so will try that..Think that'll be 15/42 which has been mentioned on here..

Usually change my own, but those kits you see advertised for around £40 are rubbish..Use one and they're scrap..Chinese monkey metal.

Thanks for info though.

I wouldn't fit a £40 chain and sprocket kit to a moped let alone a 165 mph Aprilia sports bike. The way the torgue is delivered on these bikes need for a heavy duty 525 pitch DID or AFAM chain. A chain letting go at speed doesn't bear thinking about.

Mark, i think you mean 16/42 not 15/42

No no no..It's the way I tel em (Copyright Frank Carson) I mean the kit that splits the chains,(Having an EK X Ring chain fitted) comes with various bits and peices to change your own chain & sprocket..They're advertised in most of the parts suppliers M&P, Demon Tweeks etc..But I found the chain splitter so poor it actually bent, ditto the bit that supposed to flatten the soft rivet.. Very very poor quality and not worth the £40 or abouts they're selling for.
They look good but aren't..

You can tell I never alter my gearing from standard.. Gave Jordan my new rear sprocket and they're doing the rest..Think its standard size, I thought 15 but if you say 16 it must be that..

Well lads i've just brought the mille home with the new tyres and 15/44 gearing and all I can say is WOW!the pirelli's feel superb, turn in is sweet after going from a 190 rear to a 180 and they are super sticky. When I got to my favourite strech of closed road:devious I opened the throttle and she went to 140 in the blink of an eye and stiil had a little left. The acceleration is so addictive:inlove(that wont be good for the tyres)the front end wants to lift alot more but while it feels like a little bit of a handful it's FUN.:wheelie and i'm sure i'll get used to it!!!!!

Cheers,

Ross

The difference is very noticeable big fella.Yes badger and I'll be grinning even more after a blast down the coastal road to girvan today:doug

hi guys, am awaiting arival of 15/42 combination (16/40 std on 05 bike) as a first step. how do you reckon this affects speedo? very rough on maths but does this mean speedo will be reading c. 10% higher than actual speed??:confused

Beechy, it won't affect your speedo reading at all. The speedo sensor is mounted next to the rear brake caliper and not on the gearbox as per Japanese bikes
