Hi folks,

I have read in many previous threads that most people reccomend 16/44 sprockets but what do you guys think of 15/44 anyone tried it?:dunno

The reason I ask is that I am having renthal 15/44 sprockets and did chain fittted(meant to get a 16 front but got a 15 by mistake:jack and thought i'd give it a try) as well as a pair of pirelli supercorsas.Only problem is I now have no bike until the middle of next week:eek:

Cheers,

Ross.

ive got 16/42 lol.
think 15 will give it loads more oomph down the bottom end, dunno about 15/44 though, its usualy 16/44 or 15/42,not sure if you can mix and match or not mate.

i've just gone down to 15 front standard rear
perfect for me
bit more pull
useable round town
smooth as
would be intrigued to see what you think of 15 44

i ran 15 /44 for a while and it was great, no problems, as already said loads more oomph down the bottom end, need to be more careful with the throttle at first because it will wheelie alot easier than standard gearing

the acceleration is really fun!!

i am on 15 43 at the moment i think which does good for me, only changed because my old chain was screwed and it was cheap to get a complete new chain & sprocket kit :thumbup

oh and its wonderful around town... i can actually ride at 20mph (sometimes below) without using the clutch or bein ****** back and forth :)

there you go then matey,sorted.
im gunna swap my 16t for a 15t,can never have to many wheelys lol.

cheers for the info guys!!once I get her back i'll post and let you know how I get on!

Im thinking of doing this now too, I belive the front standard sproket is a 17 but unsure of the rear.

can i get myself a 16 tooth front and put it on with out needing a new chain or rear sproket

just adjust the rear wheel backwards to suit the new front sproket im guessing.

Standard thinking is that if you need new sprockets...ie done a few thousand miles on them...then you should change chain/sprockets at the same time. The reason for this is the chain stretches...the sprockets wear and get 'hooked' hence putting a new sprocket on an old chain and vice versa is putting new onto worn and will not 'mate' properly causing unnecessary and uneven wear....

Any of the models old or new will take the same gearing, the pre 04 model runs 17/42 as standard and the post 04 runs 16/40, the gearing that suits me best is 15/43 for road use, if you have a 42 on the rear then just stick a 15 on the front and see if you like it, no point in spending more on rear sprockets.

Hi all,

Due to the fact I have been very busy organising a wedding and honeymoon I still haven't dropped the bike off to the guy who's fitting the stuff for me.He's about 25 miles from me and I need to get my fiancee to follow me there and bring me back home but anytime the weather haas been good enough one of us has been unavailable!!!!!Trying desperately to get it there this week and as I said before I'll let you know how I get on with 15/44!

Cheers

look forward to the "report" mate,as im gunna get a new front 15t instead of my 16t,so may as well get the rear and a chain too while im at it.
didnt want to fit the same 42t rear,so ill see how you get on,its either the 44t rear or 43t like badger uses.

Big Un, try 15/42 before you go any more on the rear. Dropping 2 teeth off the front is quite a large gearing change. The bike will be much more responsive so i suggest giving this a go first

ok matey, its just that i thought i had 17t front since i bought the bike, but it turned out it was a 16t all along,so i was looking at sumat to give me more of a dramatic change,as i wont be dropping 2t of the front legs.
will 15/42 give me this,or will it be more of a subtle change?

I reckon 15/44 would be fun for a little while and would like to try it for a bit, but i think after a while you'd start to get a bit pissed not being able to put all the power down without being scared of flipping it over or high siding the *****, on the other hand if your a pro and a wheely is second nature and power slides and just a bit of fun, then again you gotta learn somewhere :devious:thumbup

hi dude, not seen you for a bit pal, everythin ok?
so you reckon 15/44 would make a BIG difference and make the bike a bit wild?

Na been hiding away for a bit, but my bike has now apologized for throwing me off so getting back in the scene told her i'd buy her something nice and all that lol
Regarding the gearing i think it would be interesting to try, but i had standard 17/42 and when i went to 16/42 it made a very noticeable difference, so when you think about a 15/44 would be like big time difference my brains not working so i dunno what that would be with the standard 42 on the rear a 13 or 14 maybe? Someone can work it out:thumbup

I've got a new 42 rear just incase the 44 is a bit too wild with the 15 front but you never know it might be fun having a wheelie machine!

nice to have you back anyway buddy,little1's barely had the piss took out of him since youve not been on lol.

dont mind the bike being a bit wild as long as it doesnt make it unridable if you get me,as it handles sweet as a nut now, just wanted a little more grunt.

Try the 42 on the rear if you have it anyway, 15/42 will be quite noticeable, you wanna try holding on to my factory with 138bhp at the rear wheel with 15/46 or 47 on it:eek:
