Yep I remember. Never used them myself.

Some nice roads around BSE to Haverhill, Stowmarket to Diss.

When I get the bike fixed have 2 meet for a ride?

Hi all , after doing loads of searching on this site and taking a few test rides, it looks like i`ll be putting a deposit down on a silver 04 factory very soon.
My heads already spinning with mods. First one will be the 40 clutch jet.

Its in a dealers a fair bit away from me. Too far to go and view it unfortunately , so i would be buying it blind ( seen loads of pictures thought ). And i`ll have to have it delivered. so it could take 10 days to get to me. I`m an impatient bugger the wait`s going to kill me.

Hi Baron

Glad you're going the RSV way. I've test ridden everything since I sold my RSVR in March - nothing has come close to it in terms of the noise, handling, brakes and buzz of the bike.

Go see the bike first though mate. It will be worth the train/car ride to check it all over and might save you some money in the long run. The other plus side of seeing it, checking it over, paying your money and picking it up is that you can ride it home and you won't have the agony of waiting for it to be delivered.

RSV's are great bikes and I'm sure you've picked a good 'un but it's a mechanical object and you don't want to end up with one that's not been looked after, cleaned, serviced and oiled or has spent it's formative years with the front and back wheels in the air, in and out of hedges and getting rained on more than Wales. Mechanical objects can run and run if they're looked after, serviced and loved. If it's not been looked after you can run into problems that might end up costing you cash and spoiling your experience.

If it looks good its got a good history, it's the right mileage and the right price then it's probably as you expect but you can only tell what sort of life it's had and therefore, a better idea of what you're getting if you see it up close and personal.

I agree i`d prefer to go see it , but it`s in surrey and i`m all the way up in sunny scotland. There`s one in the dealer near me but its a bit tatty, for an extra £350 ( this includes the delivery charge aswell ) the one down south has half the miles , akra`s and is in better condition. It`s going to get a service and mot before i get it, and has 3 months warranty i can use at any garage.

Hello new guys welcome to a great forum :thumbup

Baron how much did you pay for the Factory :devious

Hi All - New on site and must say is really a great site. Have spent some time looking up old threads, viewing bike pis etc. Whats nice to see - decent communication vs trash seen on some other sites. I am a RSV fanatic, the old version more than new, this due to my height of over 6ft4 - just find the older one easier to fit on, plus I still really enjoy the looks. I have had a 02 Mille before, then a a Haga replica 04 ( gold rims ). Was a real ***** to sell that one. I have just bought a silver 03 standard. Was meant to go fetch her on Saturday, but the ****** at the bike shop would not release the bike as wanted 9 working days for bank clearance ( I paid him last Sat ). So - hes had my money for over a week and still not good enough. Will have to wait now till next weekend as its too far a drive to try get the bike after work. I live in Johannesburg - we have the honor of being voted number one crime capital worldwide....well at least we made it onto something. Aprilia is not big in SA at all, this due to old history of "fly by night" Distributors and no real investment. Therefore if you see a mIlle for sale and the condition is good - you just gotta go for it. The good news though is it does stand out when parked next to 15 R1's in a row........

I also ride a GS 1150 Adventure - great bike too and this country made for them. This year already done two trips - one to Namibia and one up to Malawi. We plan on Mozambique in August ( on the GS not the Mille !! ).

Well - also nice to see a mix of nationalities, mainly British - well done to you guys in the Lions tour here, was a tough contest and we really appreciated you coming here.

When I finally get my hands on my bike will post a pic. If I dont I might get arrested for burning the a$#holes shop down..
Cheers - Leonard (Joburg03RSV)

Hi all; another newbie here, just checking in with the regular crowd. Can I first of all just mention what a great place this forum seems to be, and having only just found it tonight, I`m already far more clued up on the RSVR than I was only a couple of hours ago ! :thumbup

I`m just coming back to biking after a 5 year lay-off ( second marriage, so more young kids and associated stuff ), and at the ripe old age of 46, I`m looking to get back onto a sportsbike; although I did question my sanity at one point when thinking about an RSV, and wondered if I should really throw the towel in and get a VFR !!?? :biggrin

Only joking, of course, to any VFR lovers out there (good bike when all`s said and done), but after owning many sports-bikes in the past, such as Fireblades, Gixers, an R1, and a few Kwak ZX7/9R`s, I already knew that I really wanted a twin again, after enjoying my previous twins, which were a Suzuki TL1000R, and a Honda Firestorm (which sounded amazing with Blueflame cans on).

Anyway, as such, I`ve duly found myself a nice-looking original (apart from double-bubble screen) `04 RSVR, and I simply CANNOT WAIT now, to get aboard the steed and open it up !! It`s being delivered for me this Friday, and it now can`t come soon enough.

Roll on Fridayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!! :doug

Hi,
I have just bought a rsv mille 2004 plate with 9000 on the clock. This is my first vtwin after 17 years of ninjas, fireblades etc.
I must say I am impressed with the rsv but it does have problems..I bought it for a song and it is the old shape with the big single light..
There are no stickers on the bike and the last owner has changed various bits on it so it looks a bit funky hasnt put me of though..
So I hope you wont mind me hanging around and asking silly questions as I know nothing on these bikes..I will try and get a photo up shortly, but in the mean time,,
Does anyone know the differences between the 2002 model and the 2003 because when I bought the bike I was told it was a 2003 model on a 04 plate,,but someone else has told me it is a 2002 model..I really need to know which it is for when I buy parts for it,,Many thanks,,

Photos of the bike,,

As you can see the paintwork is a bit shoddy but she is going to be a work in progress..

Hi Jason - welcome - i am also new on the site from last month, but an old fan of the Mille. Your bike does not seem that bad if you got for a song, agree just sort the paintwork - the rest looks all ok. That bike is a 2002 as far as I can tell by the tail end - the bigger hump. The 2003 model gets a more streamlined lower look to the tail. The only significant other difference in the 2002 to 2003 model is the gearbox. I had an 02 and now on a 03 and the gearbox does seem to much better - not in the mechanism, more the gearing that now suits the motor. Not sure what they did , but there are some knowledgeable guys on here who will advise us. Cheers and enjoy ! Leonard
