New 2013 Tuono Owner

Hey Guys,
This time tomorrow I will be the owner of a new 2013 black Tuono. Trading in my Triumph Street Triple. Tough decision as I really liked the triple and none of the dealers around me allowed test rides of the T. Totally relying on reviews and YouTube videos.

Besides swapping for a 15 tooth countershaft sprocket, I want to replace the seat. The stock seat is hard as a rock! I'm not having much luck searching for one. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hi mate and welcome to the madness.

The street triple is a great bike,but you won't be disappointed in the TV4 :thumbup

More power, better chassis, bags of character, superb electronics package and also like your trumpet in the states, pretty exclusive.

Aprillia do a "gel" seat. have a look in the site sponsors online shop :thumbup

I haven't got one yet and usually when I go for a rideout it's around 150-180 miles of twisties and I haven't felt the need for one yet.

Welcome, as Rizla says Aprilia do a gel one, few companies do an aftermarket one with gel inserts, depends if you want form over function.........

I have the Aprilia gel seat on mine and it retails at under Â£120 including vat. It is only available in black which is perfect for you.

Is it much better than standard? I've got a 5 day trip into Scotland planned for August was thinking about getting one

I find it much better than the stock seat
Just covered 2000 miles in a 6 day trip through Germany and 300 miles a day isn't a problem.
Pity you weren't closer ........you could try it.

Hi Streety, welcome to the cool kids forum!

I had a Street Triple R before I got my Tuono V4. At the risk of getting lynched I must say I think the Street Triple R handled better than my Tuono BUT theres absolutely no comparison when it come to power and pure undiluted fun! The TV4 wins hands down. Enjoy. Rob

My worry about the gel seat or extra padding for the current one is height increase. My legs are at maximum capacity as it is.

There is no height increase the only point of difference is some subtle writing on the side and a little more comfort.

Hi welcome,

I have had mine for about 6 weeks also. I just put on the gel seat and love it, I also had the height problem just touching my toes. I replaced the stock links in the rear with the lower ones from AF1 (probably your best bet for all Aprilia parts and aftermarket) they work great with the front forks dropped to 3 lines. I now can flat foot no problem and my confidence in parking stoping and backing is perfect. I highly recommend them for all of us that wish the seat height was a little lower. I think the gel seat is shaped better and feels like it does not have the sharper edges that bothered me with the stock seat. All those things I could have lived with but since we have them available it makes sense to make the bike comfortable.

I honestly got on ok with the seat, 8 hours a day for 6 days in Europe, did get numb after 90 mins or so, but that's usually when people are stopping for fuel and **** etc

Cant say ive noticed the seat being that hard .... ride faster and move about on the bike more :yes

maybe i have a fat arse :lol
