Neeps on Bikes

Agreed pops.

Our kid was almost crying thanking me for giving him the decent jacket he had on when he just popped out for chips. That 2mm of leather and bit of foam may well have saved his life.

If you don't at the very least put a decent jacket on be it textile or leather and specifically for bikes,,,,,well,,,, yer a spac.

AND if you've got your visor up and you get that dog **** in your eye, well thats that. Decease and death. Not good.:no

What about a leather thong , and I`ve got my own supply of doggie dooo . I put it on the hedges to stop kids jumping on them .

I have heard the textile material sticks as it gets hot when sliding ....problem ,not sliding . Leather will slide easily so is better.

I wish I could get into my old leather , fur lined and cost £34

Was it from Anne Summers Hec min ???

OK last post now about bike clothing,

If you wear leathers you slide better, if you wear textiles they grip .
If you are unfortunate enough to fall of get knocked of, you stop quicker wearing textiles, slowing you down before you impact the kerb, road sign.

kevlar stops bullets so it must be half decent, and we as road riders dont have the space that track riders do to slideeeeee

final final post about protective gear

I boil to see kids racing about with no gloves

Many gloves now include skiddy inserts on the palm to make your arm extend rather than dig in when you instinctively reach out to break a fall ... and consequently break your arm all to **** ... and encourage the body to skate and roll. All of which is irrelevant if you are wearing a T shirt and shorts of course.

When I was in South Shields as a student and whizzing about on a 125 a well intentioned biker stopped me and gave me such a bollocking for a) being a **** and b) being a **** with no protective clothing that I was jolted out of my sense of invincibility and into reality

Neeps? We call them squids or posers. They ride to the mall and hang out in their jeans and t-shirts and usually no helmets. I have a very nice textile typ jacket that is branded as Buell but it works very well. I also have textile pants that are the cats meow as they are waterproof AND fleecelined. I top it off with an HJC full carbon fiber helmet and several different types of gloves. I had asked in another thread if leathers were mandatory in your country as in most of your pics I see them. I think someday when i get the money I will buy a set. Hopefully Ill never have a crash test of the textiles but slowwing me down if I do fall off cant do anything but help. Ive been riding way too fast on the T. I LOVE THIS THING. Okay, nuff for now. Ya'll be safe and keep the rubber side down.

Seems to be the range in Kent too. Kids on mopeds with no gloves & best of all a full face lid with the visor removed or motocross styled lids with goggles sat on top, what the fook is that all about?

As a wise man once said 'chicks dig scars but not the empty space where your eyes used to be'

The only thing we have to wear by law is a helmet, As for leathers there is a big following for sport bikes here and full leathers come from them and most people on here most likely have had one in their past.
I wear full textile in the winter and in the summer textile jacket and kevlar lined jeans, I do like leather easier to clean the fly's off

Never mind the fookin fashion police ya all are, what aboot Ardnamurchan.... Magical place, lovely roads, most with a mountain one side and a loch on the other, beautiful. Stayed there a few times but never on two wheels:bawling might have to pay a pilgrimage up there this summer:hail

P.S. What's jogging?

It's whit someone does to yer when yer forgot somat.

It's probably the best place to stay in the whole of the UK. But I tell everyone it's crap, as I don't want them to move here. That way it'll stay the best place. If I hear one more tourist say "it's lovely, but what do you do all day?". It's as if they lead this mad whirl of a social life in wherever it is they come from. As we all know, anyone who lives & works in an urban sprawl is too knacked from travelling all day to and from their god awful jobs to do anything other than veg out in front of Eastholbyenderoaks Street every night with a micro curry and watered down penio greasio.
