I joined the TRF, they only ride on legal lanes (allegedly). They are really helpful, will show you routes and will mark maps up.
There is a small percentage of the public who are against it, but in general people are very friendly, loads of total strangers wanting to chat and possibly have a go.
Apart from the fantastic places to go, there is a whole new map system out there that road riders are not aware of.
Fun police ? Where else can you wheely, power slide, generally have a ball without constantly looking around for the plod, thinking about the next points on your licence.
Caveman, I could buy 3 decent dirt bikes for the depreciation hit you are contemplating on your T.
After 2 years of abuse, I can probably sell mine for what I paid for it.
Tyres are half the price of road bikes, parts readily available from lots of places.
Breakdowns are frequent, most off roaders have to know a bit about bikes and can usually get them away.
Every ride is an adventure, I wish I had done it years ago.
